Tēnā koutou e te whānau

We are so proud of our tamariki who have been working hard on their athletics. Congratulations to our Year 5 and 6 tamariki who have qualified for the Western Bay of Plenty Athletics competition which will be held on Wednesday 30 November at Tauranga Domain.

Congratulations to

Miela Murphy, Jayde Henare, Beth Metcalfe, Layla Miller, Kimaia Dinsdale-Kingi, Shayla Jansen, Penny Irvine, Sienna Casley, Reeve Percy, Tehila Toesoliga, Carter Renney, Max McNeil, Monty Park, Ashton Mitford-Burgess, Jayd Thompson, Colby Fourie, Sylva Wilson, Finn Hanley

Cooper Powdrell and Noah Francisco.

This is a huge group of qualifiers at such a high level. Congratulations everyone!

2022 year book

A big thank you to Jemma Dixon who has put together this year's Yearbook for us. She has spent many hours taking and collating photos and putting them together. The draft of the Year book can be viewed at the office and orders are being taken now. Books are $20 and will be able to be picked up before the end of the year. Please order and pay for your Yearbook via Kindo by Friday 2 December. Great Christmas present idea for extended whānau or for the children themselves.

Step on Up for Diabetes

A big thank you to everyone who made a donation for Diabetes Day on Friday. There were lots of great sneakers on display. We raised $747!!!

Car park and crossing

This work is nearly complete. We are just waiting for the painted markings to be completed and the fences taken down. We have noticed that the current new markings and crossings have presented some challenges for the road wardens’ visibility so we are trialling some extra coning. This will allow the wardens to step out onto the crossing to see whether cars are coming. If this is successful we will install more permanent bollards or similar. Please be careful driving through this area, especially as it is changing regularly.

Unpaid accounts

Please check Kindo to see whether you owe money for any events your child has attended. We also appreciate any whanau who can pay the Voluntary Donation. We do not get funding for library books, playgrounds, play equipment. These things are provided through fundraising or parent donations. I know it is very financially difficult for many people at the moment. We really appreciate any amount of this donation that you can afford so that we can continue to provide the environment and opportunities that are best for your children’s learning.

A reminder that it is compulsory for all tamariki to be wearing a hat when outside. Please ensure that your child has their hat with them at all times and that they have put sunscreen on in the morning.

The classes for 2023 are being finalised. If you are intending on moving out of the area and/or will not be with us next year, can you please let us know as soon as possible. You can email Kirsty Hudson If you know anyone who is enrolling and hasn’t yet done so, can you please encourage them to urgently enrol at the office. Accurate numbers help us to have the right number of teachers employed. Many thanks for your support.

This week’s focus is problem solving. The key ideas we will be working on are

  • I can be proactive in using problem solving skills

  • I think about how others might feel/react, before I act

  • I use kind and respectful words to talk about how I am feeling

  • I follow classroom and school expectations for solving problems

  • I listen respectfully to the opinions of others, even if when they differ from my own

Have a great week everyone!

Library Helpers Needed Please

Library books and Readers

The learning centre will be closing to students this Friday 25th November. Please can you help your child/ren to have all library books and readers returned by this date. It would also be appreciated if you could check at home for any extra books or readers and send them back as well. We don't mind if you have had them for ages - we would just like them back!

Library Stocktake Helpers

We are just starting our end of year stocktake and need some helpers! This involves scanning the library barcodes on the back of our readers and books, tidying shelves etc. If you are able to help with this, or have any questions, please contact Lynley Gillanders Any help would be very much appreciated.
