From the Principal ...
Mercy is meant to be received from God and given to others in a limitless way. Our relationship with God and the reception of His mercy must become the foundation of our lives. As we grow in love of God, the holiness we experience will become the guiding source of how we relate to one another. Each person God puts into our lives will experience God’s mercy through us in a way that God chooses. As we remain open to Him, He will use us to form holy bonds of love with all who are willing to receive that love.
Our students have been working hard so far in the early days of this new school year to be "beacons" of God' MERCY - and give God's MERCY to those most in need!

Mercy Day at OLM!
On Thursday September 26, OLM will be celebrating Mercy Day, a day celebrated by 11,000 Sisters of Mercy and their friends and colleagues around the world. This is the day on which Catherine McAuley first opened the House of Mercy in Dublin, Ireland and dedicated it to Our Lady of Mercy.
In honor of Mercy Day, the Home and School Association would like to host a luncheon for the faculty and staff who devote their time and energies to our children each and every day. We are asking for parent volunteers to help prepare and serve the luncheon as well as to assist with
lunchroom/recess duties.
Below is a link to the sign up genius. There are options for food and drink, monetary donations and volunteer opportunities - Please click the button directly below!
We also hope to see you at the school’s prayer service which will be held at
2pm on the 26 th .

STREAM ACADEMY AT OLM: WE EDUCATE TO INNOVATE
STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics — in an interdisciplinary and applied approach. Rather than teach the four disciplines as separate and discrete subjects, STEM integrates them into a cohesive learning paradigm based on real-world applications. At OLM we "add" R & A (Religion and the Fine Arts) to create STREAM. All students in grades K-8 receive this instruction. Students in grades K-3 participate in the STREAM ACADEMY.
We ask parents of children in grades 1-3 to complete the electronic forms directly below. You can complete them right in the newsletter. Just Click below. Thanks!
STREAM education is critical to our mission of educating future Catholic leaders. Having activities that show real-life implication of STREAM can pull together the ideas presented in school and help to show how they benefit our society and even our world as a whole. Children can see that what they are learning now is pertinent to their future and the future of the whole world, creating an interest often lacking when learning new concepts that do not seem to carry real-world application.
The sign up will close SEPTEMBER 16th.
A note from Home and School
Happy Sunday!
Our KidStuff fundraiser is underway. If you are a coupon lover, this may be the perfect fundraiser for you to support. If you aren’t, no worries at all. There are many other ways to support our school. Please don’t feel obligated at all to purchase a book.
Please take some time to look at our school calendar and mark the dates on your personal calendar. We hope to see you at all of our events.
Mercy Day is quickly approaching. Thanks to all who have already signed up to donate an item. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
Please keep sending in those Box Tops and be sure you are signed up for Giant Rewards. These are 2 easy ways we make money to be used for the children.
Please please please help in anyway for our auction. This will be an amazing event but we need the support from every family.
Always reach out with questions or suggestions.
Thanks for all your support!

Consider Scrip
The family portion of the rebate is 85%, so the potential tuition savings are significant. Some families earned hundreds of dollars in tuition credits last year. The primary goal of this program is to help keep an OLM education affordable for our families, so be sure to take advantage of this benefit. All the information is found at: http://www.olmrcs.com/parent-family-resources/scrip-program/
For Example:
You go to Giant every week and spend $200 on groceries. By purchasing a $200 Giant Scrip card, you still pay $200 for the same groceries, but you also GET $6.80 back. If you continue to do this for 36 weeks, that is $244.80 towards your tuition.
Lunch Program at OLM: The Cafe at OLM
Lunch will be served beginning Wednesday, September 4th. The lunch menu is below and is available to download. It is always on our website. Payment information, and payment portal information are ALL contained on the OLM website – under the “Resources” tab. This also gives our parents the ability to track their child’s spending.
Our Virtue of the Month for September is MERCY
Our Virtue of the Month for September is MERCY.
Our Peacemakers of the month help us to maintain and strengthen our OLM community. During the month of September, students will pray to St. Rita of Cascia and work on the virtue of MERCY each and every day.
Our Lady of Mercy School embraces the virtues of our faith and look to the saints for inspiration and guidance.
Mercy is the virtue of forgiveness. It is the decision to stop hating and to renounce vengeance. ... Mercy differs from compassion. Compassion works to relieve suffering, and suffering is usually innocent. Mercy forgives wrongdoing, which is rarely innocent.
Students will be recognized after the 9AM school liturgy on Friday, October 4, 2019.
