Term 2 Begins

Here we go - Term 2!

We are proud of all of our Mustangs - staff and students alike! We have learned a lot and will keep working to do what is best for our students success.

Every day is a regular schedule this week. Be sure to do our Advocacy lessons to help students be on the same page and prepared for term 2.

Distribution of many items and textbooks will occur this week (sent in Synergy email) Oct. 12-16th by alphabet (first letter of last name). Please write your full name on a paper for the passenger side window to help us be more efficient. And, thank you for your patience throughout the line.

Schedule is also in newsletter below

Items being distributed:

  • schedules, Red Ribbon Week materials
  • Ceramics, Art and DATA supplies and term 1 driver's ed pink slips
  • textbooks, yoga mats and piano/choir packets
  • Collecting Canned Food for Canned Food Drive
  • Key Club awards and Academic Awards (Honor Roll from terms 3 and 4)

FYI - for distribution: Some administration and some office staff will be shifting hours so we appreciate your patience over the next two weeks but we will do our best to respond in a timely manner at the same time.

Also, if students need a Chromebook, please contact the front office 916-688-0050 between 7:30-4pm Mon-Fri. These are NOT available at distribution.

Your teachers should be reaching out or have already to let you know to join their classrooms. If you don’t see anything in your google classroom or in your email by Saturday, feel free to email your teachers.

Zoom authentication has begun. To help us know who is attending our classes, you may only join from your EGUSD account. This will help us identify those few who are trying to “zoom bomb” our classes still and distract from the learning environment which is unacceptable from a Mustang.

And, did you know? We are having a Canned Food Drive during materials distribution so we can help our community. Please see the email from Craig Grivel (sent today) for details and how you can earn community service in the process.

Hope you have a great start to term 2! Let's keep getting even stronger!

Term transition reminders:

  • Oct. 12th - regular Monday schedule with advocacy to start term 2 (not allowed to do reverse minimum day) and Grades due by 4pm
  • Oct. 12, 13, 14, 15 - term 2 textbooks & materials distribution days - drive thru(details sent in Synergy email) and Canned Food Drive

Ways to join our mission for Equity

We need your help. In order to keep improving and meet our mission of helping ALL students realize their greatest potential, we need to address systemic inequities for students. We know there is no quick fix and we are not perfect but we learn so much when we hear from our students and families.

Here are some ways you can help:

  1. Join the Student Equity Council - Join Student Equity Council - we want to hear authentic student voice and provide an opportunity for students to advocate to help MT identify and eliminate significant obstacles in school and to ensure they have access to the resources they need to succeed academically and socially
  2. Join us for our MTHS Book Study - Part 3 continues on Oct. 15th *If you missed this one, we hope to have additional book studies
  3. Click here to Join MTHS Black Family Leadership Team - We are creating a Black Family Leadership Team to engage in critical discussions to improve our practices and improve student outcomes for our Black and African American students. Families and staff are invited to be a part.
  4. Watch for the upcoming MTHS Regional Community Meetings - staff, students, families are encouraged to join all of the MTHS regions Principals and administration in our pursuit of racial justice - more information to come
