Introduction
New York City is known as the city that never sleeps. The population of the city in 1898 was 3,350,000. There was once a total of 2,000 farms in New York City, but there is now about 36,000. The tallest building in New York City is 110 stories. Those are some interesting facts about New York City.
Historic site
Old Fort Niagara has been around since 1726. It was part of a struggle for control of the Great Lakes. This struggle was between France, Great Britain and the United States. It also formed the destinies of the Iroquois and the nation of Canada. That shows the importance of Old Fort Niagara.
An event that happened at Old Fort Niagara is when the British seized it. In December 18th, 1813, in the war of 1812, British soldiers with militia and some Indians went to seize the fort. On December 19th, they were successful in seizing the fort. The British had held the fort through all the war of 1812. That is one event that took place at Old Fort Niagara.
