Feeling the Love
Dear Farragut Families,
We wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your support. Our back to school mornings have been nothing short of inspiring. The love and excitement that radiates from each of you is contagious, and it fills our school community with an undeniable sense of enthusiasm and purpose. It will take all of us to create an environment where our students can thrive and excel.
Together we thrive,
Martha Romero and Beverly O'Brien

September is Attendance Awareness Month
Did you know?
Missing 10 % of school can make it harder for students to learn to read.
Coming to school in September leads to positive attendance habits.
Attending school helps children make friends, feel good about themselves, and achieve their goals.
We look forward to seeing your child at school every day!

MTSS News & Notes
Dear Farragut Families,
I hope your school year is off to a great start! I am reaching out to personally welcome you all, and identify myself as a source of support, should you ever need it. It is my pleasure to serve Farragut’s students, staff, and community members as your MTSS Specialist/Coordinator. Overall, my work is geared towards improving Farragut’s school climate, and the positive feelings of students, staff, and families in feeling connected at our school. I also help provide extra short term or long term support to all teaching and learning partners as needed. I will be using The Foxy Flyer to communicate with you all from time to time, so be on the lookout for more “MTSS News & Notes”.
Warmly,
MTSS Christine Cruz
We Are So Proud
Farragut Highlight
Thank you Mrs. Penchansky for creating such a warm, inspiring, and welcoming library. Every week students from Farragut classrooms visit our rich and diverse library. Students are reminded that there is always hope and that possibilities are endless. Her message could not be any clearer, Everyone has a story. Our stories, experiences, diversity, and identities makes us unique. Mrs. Penchansky, thank you for making sure all students feel heard, seen, and respected.

- One that starts at Lindbergh Park
- One that starts at Sepulveda
Adrian, our Walk n’ Roller lead, is open to ideas and suggestions and is looking for parents to volunteer and become champions for Walk N Rollers! And help with supervising each route. Primary goal is for children who live far away to be able to walk to school and join a school bus at the start and get the option to walk in with their friends and reduce the amount of cars at the drop off zone. 12. The Home Reading and Writing Program is Back!
For those new to Farragut, the PTA sponsors a Home Reading and Writing Program for all of our students. Participation is optional. Our program encourages the students to read each day and log their reading minutes.
Each month, students will receive a blank reading log to complete. Keep an eye out for September's log in your student's folder this week or you can download it here: September Reading Log
The logs must be complete (i.e. parent's initials, reading goal met, total minutes calculated at end of the month, etc.) to be eligible for a book and/or prize.
There are reading goals for grades TK-2 and grades 3-5 are stated on the logs.
Completed logs are due the beginning of the following month, i.e. September logs are due on Monday, October 2nd.
Volunteers will deliver prizes and books to those students who completed their reading log AND met the required number of minutes.
Students who keep electronic logs can email their completed logs
Reading logs and any questions can be emailed to Kristine Capell at studentfarraguthomereading@gmail.com
The Home Reading Program is always looking for gently used books to add to our carts.
If anyone has any books to donate (especially for 4th & 5th graders), please contact Kristine.
13. CCUSD Backpacks For Kids
Culver City Unified School District (CCUSD) believes that no child in our community should go hungry or have food insecurities, especially on weekends when students don’t have access to school-sponsored breakfast and lunch. The Culver City Council PTA, provides students in need with a backpack filled with non-perishable food and snacks each week to ensure that every child can eat on the weekends.
There is no cost to participate and enrollment is 100% confidential. Each week, filled backpacks will be available in the school’s main office. You or your child, simply pick up the backpack and take it home. Backpacks will not be returned each week; your student will receive a new backpack each week. Enrollment is ongoing so any child in need can sign up for the program at any time throughout the school year.
If you would like your student to receive a weekly backpack, sign up here: https://forms.gle/HH595xKxJGr9H8tw8 or complete a form in your school office.
