What the cave was first used for

Lost world caverns was first called Grapevine cave.The cavern was first discovered by farmers that used it to dump trash and dead livestock.It was surveyed in the 60's and found to have over a mile of connected tunnels reaching about 245 feet beneath the surface.A prehistoric cave bear's remains where found in the cavern in 1967.

Opening to the public

A walking entrance was dug out in the early 70's.They cleaned the trash and cows out of the caverns and installed walkways. The cave opened for tourism.In 1981 the gift shop was renovated.In 1992 lost world caverns was reported to be the home of bat boy.They claimed that he was caught by the FBI and survived by eating his weight in bugs.
