Detroit Christmas Events – Ice Skating at Campus Martius Park

Enjoy the holiday lights at the world famous Campus Martius Park ice skating rink. Situated in the heart of Downtown Detroit on Woodward Avenue, the Rink offers one of the most beautiful skating experiences in the country.

Royal Oak Christmas Event – Detroit Zoo Wild Lights
Through January 3, 2021 from 5p-9p select weeknights and Sundays.

The Detroit Zoo will light up the night this holiday season with Wild Lights, a spectacular holiday light display. For 32+ nights, more than five million LED lights will illuminate trees, buildings and animal sculptures on a half-mile trail through the front of the Zoo. Dates –

EASTER SEALS THERAPY SERVICES OFFERED AT CJHS!
Therapy services are offered once a week for 30 minutes a session during school hours. Due to the current health crisis, therapy services are currently being done online via zoom. Students will have a private area in our building to meet with their therapist utilizing their CCS issued Chromebook.
If you're interested in your student receiving these services, please reach out to your students counselor now for more information.

#OaklandTogether COVID Relief $500 Microgrant
Oakland County and United Way for Southeastern Michigan are pleased to announce the Oakland Together COVID Relief Microgrant Initiative. Eligible residents in Oakland County can apply for a $500 microgrant to cover necessary expenses or gaps in income resulting from the economic repercussions of COVID-19.
Who is eligible?
Applicants must:
- Be a resident of Oakland County.
- Be age 18 or older.
- Have household income of $70,000 or lower in normal years (pre-COVID).
- Submit one application per household.
Applicants must be experiencing a financial hardship brought on by COVID-19 or the economic impacts of COVID-19. Applicants meet one of the following criteria:
- Disruption of income (lost or reduced income for a period of time, e.g., due to job loss, layoff, furlough or unpaid leave of absence)
- Ongoing reduced income (e.g, due to reduced hours, partial furlough or reduced tips/commissions)
- Loss or lack of income (no or minimal current income, e.g., due to job loss, layoff, furlough, unpaid leave of absence or inability to find a new job)
- Increased expenses
- An emergency need or inability to meet a basic need

College Corner: Grand Valley State University
Allendale, Michigan
Grand Valley State University (GVSU, GV, or Grand Valley) is a public university in Allendale, Michigan. It was established in 1960 and is a large, primarily residential comprehensive university that has a large undergraduate enrollment and emphasis. GVSU offers over 200 areas of study, including 82 undergraduate majors and 36 graduate programs that include 74 graduate emphases and certificate programs at the certificate, bachelor's, post-bachelor's, master's, post-master's, and doctoral levels.
GVSU is one of America's 100 largest universities, and has alumni in all 50 U.S. States, Canada, and 25 countries. Academic facilities on the Allendale campus include 122 classrooms, 144 research laboratories, 20 lab prep rooms, 21 computer labs, and the Mary Idema Pew Library Learning and Information Commons.
86% of first year students live on campus: 3,591 freshman chose to live on-campus in fall 2014, while 608 chose to live off-campus. As of fall 2014, more than 400 international students were enrolled at the university representing 82 different countries.
GVSU's undergraduate admissions are classified as "more selective" by US News & World Report as Grand Valley admitted 69% of applicants for the 2008–2009 school year. The fall 2014 freshman class entered Grand Valley with an average high school GPA of a 3.54 and an average ACT composite score of a 24. US News and World Report noted in its "Best Colleges 2011" that 98% of Grand Valley graduates find employment or pursue advanced degrees after graduation.
GVSU's NCAA Division II sports teams are called the Lakers and compete in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) in all 19 intercollegiate varsity sports. They have won 20 NCAA Division II National Championships since 2002 in seven different sports.
