PSSA-Success and Celebration
To prepare for the PSSAs, our school is conducting several activities to promote a culture of success and celebration around testing:
1. Conversations and assemblies will provide positive mindset and set test expectations.
2. Students will work together to develop motivational posters for display in testing classrooms.
3. Building-wide celebration is planned for each school that reaches the test participation goal of 95%.
PSSA testing will occur on the dates listed here. To learn more about the PSSA, please join us for a Parent Information webinar with our administration on Tuesday, March 21 at 6:30pm. Click the hyperlinked dates for a direct link to either session. You can also submit your questions here.
Our commitment to the success of your child and all children is our mission. Thank you for your continued support of Methacton Schools.

Nutrition: Calcium
Calcium is a mineral that builds strong bones. It helps the body in lots of other ways too. Calcium keeps the nerves and muscles working. It also plays a role in keeping the heart healthy.
Why Do Kids Need Calcium?
To build strong bones — Kids and teens who get enough calcium early on start their adult lives with the strongest bones possible which also protects against bone loss later in life.
Where Does Calcium Come From?
Calcium is in foods. Some foods are very high in calcium. Dairy foods have the best natural sources of calcium: milk, yogurt, cheese
Some kids can't eat dairy. They have to get calcium from other foods, such as: calcium-set tofu, calcium-fortified soy drinks, edamame (soybeans),broccoli, collard greens, kale, chard, Chinese cabbage, and other leafy greens, almonds and sesame seeds, white beans, red beans, and chickpeas, oranges, figs, and prunes

Counselor's Corner
Last week I shared what the first graders are learning in their classroom counseling lessons. I am sharing it again this week because I believe it is an important skill for all students to know.
“Heart Talk” can be used when someone does something that makes you feel a negative emotion. Instead of yelling or telling them in a mean way, students learned to talk it out this way: “I feel _______ when you ______________________.” Learning how to communicate our feelings to someone without yelling or getting angry goes a long way in keeping relationships healthy.
Thank you for all of your support!
