STORM information you must know!!
- When you receive your Financial Aid package from colleges/universities, get a copy to Mrs. Clark ASAP...you may email to cmclark@gaston.k12.nc.us
- TURN IN ALL SCHOLARSHIPS YOU RECEIVE TO MRS. CLARK…EVEN IF YOU DO NOT ACCEPT THEM.
- Many scholarships are uploaded to the GCS Scholarship Website, www.gastoncountyscholarships.com When using these applications, make sure to use the "typewriter" function or "text in comment" feature to complete the applications
- Consult college/university websites for scholarship information…not all scholarships will come to the STORM Counseling Office.
- If you have the option to type your applications, do so. If not, use only black ink.
- Be aware of all deadlines…are they “postmarked” deadlines or “received by” deadlines??
Scholarships
NC Association of Education Scholarship - The Gaston County chapter of NCAEOP will award one $500 scholarship. Visit www.gastoncountyscholarships.com for an application. Return completed applications to Mrs. Clark by May 27, 2016.
Stuart W. Cramer Inaugural Scholarship - The Stuart W. Cramer family has made possible this scholarship for SCHS seniors. On the application, students may choose to apply for up to THREE separate scholarships. The three scholarships are as follows:
-- Overcoming the Storm Scholarship. This scholarship is for students who have overcome adversity in order to graduate high school.
-- Career Promise Scholarship. This scholarship is for students pursuing a community college degree after graduation.
-- Over the Rainbow Scholarship: Making Dreams Come True. This scholarship is for students with financial need.
See Mrs. Clark for an application. Submit completed applications to Mrs. Clark by May 13, 2016.
The OMBAR "Aspiring Business Professional" Scholarship - Award is one $1,000 scholarship to seniors who
- Intend to pursue a business related field at an accredited post-secondary school or college.
- Have a demonstrable record of academic success.
- Have a passion and drive for a business career.

SCHS Athletic Booster Club Scholarship - SCHS Athletic Booster Club will award one male and one female senior a scholarship. See your counselor for an application. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 Submit applications to Mrs. Clark by May 9, 2016.
Grimm-Koch-Lochart Scholarship - Award is a $500 scholarship. The Grimm-Koch-Lockhart Literary Scholarship Fund is named for the Founders of ConCarolinas. Applications are available to students attending a North or South Carolina college or university and studying English in some form (whether it be it a literary major, writing, or other). SCHS Academic Booster Club Scholarship - SCHS Academic Booster Club will award one female senior and one male senior a scholarship. Visit www.gastoncountyscholarships.com for an application. Submit applications to Mrs. Clark by May 6, 2016.
Mt. Holly Rotary Club Scholarship - Rotary Club of Mt. Holly awards scholarships to graduating seniors based upon scholarship, community involvement, and financial need.
See Mrs. Clark for an application. Completed applications must be turned into Mrs. Clark by May 13, 2016.
Paul Mitchell The School Gastonia - A scholarship to the Paul Mitchell School, this is for students interested in cosmetology. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
Completed applications must be postmarked or hand delivered to the admissions office of Paul Mitchell The School Gastonia by May 6, 2016. See Mrs. Clark for an application.
Charlotte Knights HealthCare Scholarship Program - Three $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to individuals who express an interest in pursuing a career in the healthcare field and who exemplify an attitude of service. Eligibility: HS Senior, must be attending an accredited institution of higher education in the fall of 2016, cumulative un-weighted GPA of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale, minimum of a 1800 SAT score (based on a 2400 scale) or 1200 SAT score (based on 1600 scale) or 26 ACT score, member of at least one sports team at your high school or related extracurricular activity, heavy involvement in the community or multiple hours of volunteer experience, must declare a major within the Healthcare Field or have demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in a Healthcare Field. Scholarship applications are available on the Charlotte Knights webpage under the “Community” tab or see Mrs. Clark for one. Completed applications must be submitted by June 1, 2016 to the Charlotte Knights for consideration.
Charlotte Knights STEM Scholarship Program - Three $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to individuals who express an interest in pursuing a career in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and who exemplify an attitude of service. Eligibility: HS Senior, must be attending an accredited institution of high education in the fall of 2016, cumulative un-weighted GPA of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale, minimum of a 1800 SAT score (based on a 2400 scale) or 1200 SAT score (based on 1600 scale) or 26 ACT score, member of at least one sports team at your high school or related extracurricular activity, heavy involvement in the community or multiple hours of volunteer experience, must declare a major within the STEM field or have demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in these areas. North State Law Enforcement Officers Association Scholarship - Seniors interested in pursuing a career in Criminal Justice, law enforcement, or a related field are encourage to apply for this scholarship. The top applicant will be awarded $1000 and the top two additional applicants be will awarded $500 each. See Mrs. Clark for an application. Completed applications must be received by June 1, 2016.
The Alfred W. Bohanan Scholarship Program - This scholarship is for Gaston County seniors pursuing careers with a Trade Degree (for example, machining, air conditioning, auto mechanic, construction, electrical, plumbing, etc) who plan to attend Gaston College, Cleveland Community College, York Technical College, or Central Piedmont Community College. Recipient of the scholarship must be employed part-time for at least 20 hours per week while attending school. See Mrs. Clark for an application. Applications must be received by or postmarked by May 18, 2016.
