Information from your Principal, Katie Johnson

I'd like to start by thanking you for your support through Read4Fund$. I am so proud of how committed our students are to reading daily and am grateful for the support you and our extended Cougar community has provided. It makes a difference and we greatly appreciate your generosity.

Parent Teacher Conferences are coming!

Parent Teacher conferences are the first week in March. On Friday, February 12th, I will send information to our families containing the individual teacher sign-ups via email and text. Be sure your information is updated in your Parent Portal through Please watch for that information to come.

Valentine's Day

Students will decorate Valentine's bags at school on Friday, February 5th.

Students can bring in Valentine’s Day cards to school and students will be able to place their cards into each classmates bag. All Valetine's Day cards will remain within their homeroom cohort.

This will take place on the days below. NO LATE CARDS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

  • Monday, February 8th
  • Tuesday, February 9th OR
  • Wednesday, February 10th

All bags will sit until Friday, February 12th, when students will be able to enjoy their bags in class. Candy or treats may be included with the cards but MUST be prepackaged/sealed by the retailer. Please do not send in goodie bags or zip lock bags containing multiple prepackaged/sealed items for students. If you do not want your child to open their bags at school, please contact your child's teacher.

Thank you PTO for helping provide bags and a school-wide prepackaged snack for our students.

As always, thank you for your continued support of our staff during this school year.

COVID Symptom Checke

All students and staff members are expected to do their part to protect the health and well-being of our school communities by using the COVID Symptom Checker before they come to school each day. We are in this together, and I believe this is one expectation that we need to adhere to to help keep our staff, students and community safe.

Congratulations Andrea Monaco

Please join me in congratulating Ms. Andrea Monaco, Co-Director of Kids Clubs, on her new position as the Director of the Before and After School program at Heritage Elementary School. Her leadership at Cottonwood Creek is to be commended and she will be missed. Below is a message from Ms. Andrea Monaco.

Dear Cougar Community,

I have had the pleasure of working in the wonderful community for the past 16 years. While I am not completely moving on, I am resigning from my position as Co-Director of Cottonwood Creek Kids Club. I was presented with the opportunity to take on the Director roll at Heritage Elementary school, and I have accepted. I will still be working the early mornings at Cottonwood Creek as Heritage does not offer a morning program. This is truly an opportunity for me to learn and grow without having to leave this amazing cougar community.

Have you recently moved or are you planning to move?

This is always an exciting time in schools. While we are still deep in the 2020-21 school year, we slowly begin to prepare for the 2021-22 school year. Before you know it, we will receive our staffing for next year. As we begin to prepare, please review the following information:

  • Address Information: Have you recently moved or are planning to? Please remember to update your address. You can submit your new lease agreement or deed of trust along with a current Xcel bill and a copy of our drivers lisence to the Registrar’s office (, and we will send it on to the Admissions Department for verification. It’s extremely important to keep your home address and contact information current in order to continue receiving important communications from Cottonwood and the District.

  • Are You Moving or Switching Schools? If you are moving, and your student will not be attending Cottonwood, or if your student will be attending another school for any other reason prior to the end of our school year, you must withdraw your student from Cottonwood. Please contact the Registrar ( to obtain the necessary withdrawal paperwork. We will be happy to work with you to ensure your student’s records are forwarded to their new school.
