Healthy Lunch

As Spring Break approaches, we want to encourage you to pack sack lunches with your child using the below tips. We will be talking to the children about packing healthy, balanced foods. Remember water is the preferred beverage for children. NO sodas! We are excited to have some healthy food discussions with your children and I hope you will encourage these discussions at home as well.

JCPRD's Children Service's Trucks and Big Rigs
Have you ever wondered what the inside of that big rig or tractor looks like? Do you have a child who LOVES trucks? Bring them out to the parking lot of The Theatre in the Park, located in beautiful Shawnee Mission Park, to explore trucks, tractors, construction, and city vehicles up close. Crawl, climb, and sit in the driver's seat and talk with the real life operators of these vehicles. We also feature the tow truck character from the animation movie: Cars, as well as many other kids favorites.

Benefiting Special Olympics & Special Populations
Admission to this four-hour event is free, but a donation of $10 per participant vehicle is suggested at the gate. All proceeds will benefit the JCPRD Special Olympics and Special Populations Department.

    Getting Healthy Information

We know that kids who eat healthier and move more perform better in school. It's not just because teachers and administrators tell us so. Research shows that healthy kids get better grades, attend school more often and behave better in class.

Experts recommend that kids get 60 minutes of physical activity every day. These minutes can come before, during, or after school as long as kids are staying active and having fun!

    NO CARE ON SNOW DAYS

Just want to remind everyone that we are unable to offer care on snow days!

    Parent Handbook

Please make sure that you read over the parent handbook for our mission statement, goals, program description, hours, costs, holidays, payment schedule, and policy statements.
