Week 3: Educational Podcasts
FALL 2019 EDCI318 Technology for Teaching & Learning
Podcasts in Education: A Great Way to Learn as a New Teacher
Maybe you are swamped don’t have time to sit down and sift through the latest education blogs for ideas and inspiration, (although we will be doing that this semester as well). If the thought of trying to carve out more hours in your day leaves you feeling overwhelmed, listening to podcasts might be for you.
Podcasts are a great way to get information when you’re driving in your car, making dinner at home, or working out at the gym, or just walking across campus. Podcasts don’t force you to find more time in your day; they give you the opportunity to capitalize on all the dead time that already exists in your day by simply downloading the .mp3 or syncing a podcast to your iTunes account on your smartphone or iPad.
And sometimes they are even videos!!
These list should get your started or you could find some on your own.
List of EDUCATIONAL PODCASTS to select from for this assignment
All of these are available in iTunes or the PODCAST app, Just search for the Podcasts title.
Get the Podcast App, kinda like iTunes for Music but for Podcasts, this is the easiest way to listen.
- Choose from the extensive lists I provided and listen to at least 3 podcast episodes
- They may be from the same series or different series
- Use the list above to find Podcasts or find them on your own.
- You should consider taking a few notes using the NOTES app on your iPad as you listen to use when writing your reflection of learning.
- We are just beginning to learn to write educational reflections of learning, but it is something you will discover you will do in all your education classes.
- Discuss in detail what you learned and discovered listening to each of the three (3) different podcasts.
- Be specific and detailed citing 2-3 things you learned and discovered in EACH episode.
- Make sure you include live working LINKS to everything you discuss.
- This is one post entry in Seesaw with 3 sections. See the formatting example below.
20 points for each episode reflection, so a total of 60 points
