January 22nd, 2016
On January 22nd, the Fieldstone Middle School 8th graders highlighted countries around the world for classes of Memorial Elementary students through engaging presentations developed over the course of several weeks. The goal of International Day is to promote respect and appreciation for the diversity of cultures around the globe and highlight the unique and exciting aspects of each country.
Teachers for the Day
Delivering carefully planned lessons and activities, the Fieldstone Class of 2016 proudly demonstrated 21st Century Skills through their research, collaboration, use of technology and ability to communicate in an authentic environment. Congratulations to all the 8th graders for making the day such a success!
Each group carefully researched their country to deliver informative and entertaining presentations. The students were well-prepared and took their roles very seriously in preparation. It certainly showed!
Students took on the role of teachers, creating activities for the students to learn about fascinating places ranging from Greece to Madagascar. Here, the students were introduced to Greek Mythology.
Groups developed age appropriate games to facilitate enjoyment and learning. Ireland had students hunt for "gold coins". Needless to say, this was a big hit with the children.
A Multi-Cultural Feast!
Once again, the PTO and parent volunteers went above and beyond in bringing a "taste" of the world to Montvale. Delicacies from around the globe were prepared for students to sample, further connecting the students to the diverse cultures presented on this day. Always the most memorable part of the day for many students; this year was no different, as the delicious food brought smiles to all.
The enthusiasm on display at Memorial from the students, to the staff and parent volunteers, was remarkable. A special thanks to the Montvale School District administrators, the entire Memorial staff, the PTO and all those who were able to make this day so memorable for the students of Montvale!
