The Mexicans overthrew the Spanish colonial rule. Many Mexicans were present in modern day Texas from the days of the original Spanish Explorers. Texas was an attractive place for Mexicans even after the Texas Revolution because of the strong belief in self government. Texas also offered free land to settlers. Their areas settled in Texas were north central of Austins colony. Their years of settlements were 1770-1799, their top 3 foods were tacos, quesadilla , and tamales. Their significant immigrants to Texas were Moses Austin and Stephen F. Austin. One of there custom holidays are the day of dead.
