Hawk Talk
Message from Mr. Carlson
It was all smiles at Rice Lake this week as students got their pictures taken.
If you preordered pictures online or sent in your order form,
your pictures will be sent here to the school within a few weeks.
Each student will also get a smilesafe card with their picture on it.
If you have not ordered pictures yet,
you will get a new code for ordering with your student's smilesafe Card.
We still need more volunteers to help this event run smoothly.
Please click on the link below and see if you can help out.
This is a fun event and collection for the power pack program - please check http://www.centennialfoodshelf.org/powerpack.html for more information on this program.
Spirit Wear Sale
Spirit Wear ordering available through Sept. 29th.
Flyers were sent home with students this week.
Please reach out to the PTO at ptoricelake@gmail.com with any questions.
The PTO is set to kick off its Fall Fundraiser next week.
The fundraiser will run from September 15th - 29th. Students will collect money during that time
and the event will culminate with a "Bubble Run" for all students.
The Run will take place on Friday October 6th.
Money raised will go to various projects and needed items here at Rice Lake.
Stay tuned for information on a donation website!
Attendance Reporting
If your student will be absent, arriving late or leaving early from school, please make sure to fill out the attendance form before 9:00 am. The attendance form will alway be located at the top of this newsletter each week. Teachers take attendance right away in the morning and if your student is not here and we do not hear from you we will call you.
If your student will be gone multiple days you can put the date range in the comment secion.
You must also give a valid reason for your student's absences. If a valid reason is not given your student will be marked unexcused for the day.
Messages given to teachers are appreciated, but you must also fill out the attendance form.
Thank you for your help with school attendance!
Student Fees
The district has moved to an all-electronic payment system. Rather than sending cash or checks to school, you will be able to pay for classroom donations, school supplies (grades 3-5), and field trips through Campus Parent Portal. Log into Parent Portal, go to the Fees page,
scroll down to Optional Payments, choose your student and select the fee(s) to be paid.
Most fees are currently available. If you choose to pay them all at once,
you can add them to your cart and pay for them all together.

Thank you, Custodians!
It takes a lot to get the school building ready for students to come back to classes.
Hats off to our custodial crew for shining our floors and windows, painting, and taking care of our grounds over the summer!
Cougar Football
After the first week of school, there isn't a much better way to connect as a school community than to attend a Centennial football game. We are excited to invite our students and families to the football game on Friday, September 8 at 7:00 PM to cheer on the Cougar football team against the Blaine Bengals. Feel free to review the other Cougar Fall schedules that may be of interest to you and your family. The talent and dedication our staff and student-athletes put into representing Centennial is admired.
Please be reminded of the following stadium policies and information:
- Elementary-aged children need to be accompanied and supervised by their parents/guardians.
- To maintain a safe environment, students are expected to be in the stands or with their parents at all times.
- Tickets need to be purchased online. Ticket Site
- Outside food, drinks and balls are not permitted into the stadium.
Thank you for your support! Go Cougars!

Immunizations
Minnesota law requires children enrolled in childcare, early childhood education, or school to be immunized against certain diseases, unless the child is medically or non-medically exempt.
If proper documentation is not provided, students will be unable to attend school after November 1st, 2023. What you need to do:
- Contact your health care provider and review your student’s immunization status to make sure they are up to date.
- If you missed a required vaccination, make an appointment with a healthcare provider or local clinic as soon as possible.
- Follow up with your students’ school if they have reached out to you regarding your students’ immunization status.
- Turn in medical (must be signed by a health care provider) and non-medical (must be notarized) exemption forms to your child’s school if they are exempt from immunizations.
Visit the MDH website for vaccine schedules, exemption forms and more information including where to get free/low cost immunizations today. Please reach out to your students’ school for any questions.
