Rose Lane Principal Letter...
It's wonderful to feel the temperature gradually cooling down, and see the sun is setting earlier....looks like the end of first quarter is upon us! Our grading period ends on Thursday, September 29th, which is a full day of school beginning as usual. Then, kids will enjoy the beginning of their Fall Break on Friday, September 30th, while teachers will be busy working on campus to get ready for the second quarter. I'm so proud of our hard-working students, passionate staff, and dedicated families for launching the first quarter of SY22-23 so successfully!
Some upcoming dates I want you to be aware of:
October 3rd - 7th: Fall Break
October 10th: Quarter 2 begins
October 19th, 20th, and 21st: Parent - Teacher Conferences (please look on our calendar for dismissal times).
First quarter report cards will be available to you in the Powerschool Parent Portal, and teachers will review them with you during Parent-Teacher Conferences. They will also go over the results of our in-district MAP testing, in both reading and math. Conferences will be done in-person, with some times available for virtual conferences as needed. Please be on the lookout for information from your child's teacher related to signing up for a conference time. We are excited to share your child's success at school with you!
Families, you may have heard or read about a piece of legislation which takes effect on September 24th. If you grew up in the valley, you may recall having a "moment of silence" to start the day. Arizona has a new House Bill 2707 that requires all K-12 public schools to implement a moment of silence each day. This law requires us to have at least one minute but no longer than two minutes of silent reflection that is uninterrupted for students. The law strictly prohibits teachers and staff from suggesting the content of the reflection or that staff or other students interfere with a student's moment of silence. Please discuss with your children how to use the moment of silence. The minute will be done via announcements. We appreciate you talking to your child and sharing your thoughts on how the moment of silence is best utilized for your child. Since September 24th falls on a weekend, we will begin on Monday, September 26th.
Have you heard about Love Our Schools Day? This is a great community service day scheduled for Saturday, October 15th, from 7:30 AM to 12:00PM, on Rose Lane's campus. The day will start with a light breakfast, hosted by Rocket Boosters, for our volunteers, who will then help us spruce up the Snack Shack, assemble picnic tables and garden planters, and get the Secret Garden ready for fall planting. This will be the first time since 2019 that we have been able to have a Love Our Schools Day event, and we thank you so much for volunteering to help us beautify the campus. Thank you for paying your mandatory activity fee at this time, if you have not already done so. Not only does this fund our recess program, but it also allows us to take field trips and host author visits during the school day. We are planning to have field trips at every grade level this year. to access your Powerschool Parent Portal to make your payment online. Thank you so much for helping us to promote these enriching experiences for kids.
Mr. Reyes and I appreciate all of you for following our drop-off and pick-up procedures. We realize that sometimes safety procedures represent an inconvenience to your comfort and your schedule - but safety trumps convenience every time. We thank you in advance for remaining alert, attentive, cautious, and in compliance with our safety procedures.
Have a terrific October break with your family near and far, and stay well as we get ready to jump into a fantastic fall at Madison Rose Lane.

News from the Rose Lane Rocket Boosters...
Greetings Rose Lane Families,
Since our last newsletter, Rocket Boosters had our first community event, the Ice Cream Social! Options for sundaes and popsicles were available, while listening to some renditions by everyone’s favorite music teacher, Mr. Roach! Students were dancing along, and families were connecting. We were fortunate enough to have parent volunteers set up, work and clean up. The night was a success!
Picture day was this past month as well, and Rocket Boosters volunteered to keep the day moving smoothly. We straightened collars, held mirrors, and encouraged smiles. Picture Day is a fun, high energy day, and if you ever get the chance to volunteer, take it, it’s worth it.
Wednesday September 14th was our Sonic Dine Out, and wow! Lots of families showed up and we appreciate it! Mrs. Devine and Mr. Reyes were there greeting kids and parents and there was even a slushy eating competition (that was fun to watch)! Thank you again for taking the time and coming to our dine out.
Thursday September 29th is another community event, Movie Night! There will be two screens playing “Encanto”. Food and drinks will be available for sale. More details to come. We are looking for volunteers for the night. If you would be able to volunteer your time, please email Vicepresident@roselaneteam.org
With appreciation,
Rocket Boosters
