Important Reminders
- Homework this week: No spelling due to our shorter week. Students will have reading and math homework, both are due on Friday. Students who were absent last week will finish up their 5 minute timed fact tests this week with me.
- Club Invention paperwork went home last Friday. The club begins this Thursday and costs money to attend. Only a few students from each grade will be chosen, so if your child is interested please send the form back to school and their name may be drawn by Mrs. Gotto for the club. I will keep you updated!
- January book orders are due by Monday, January 30th online only please. You can order online with Scholastic and the code to help our class earn books is NDJXN.
- I will send home a paper on Wednesday for parents/guardians to sign and return. It will have your student's math fact test scores on it. We're hoping to master addition and subtraction with 97% or better in third grade, and at least 75% on the multiplication and division fact tests.
- Our class will take the computer MAP tests again this week. I am eager to see how they have grown and progressed. These are not tests that students can study for, since each student receives different questions and areas of a subject on their tests. We are scheduled to take the Reading MAP on Friday, Jan. 20th and the Math MAP on Monday, Jan. 23rd. It is very important that your child is in school on that day, thank you for your attention to this matter!
- Looking ahead: COSI is coming to Munroe for 3rd grade to experience on January 27th! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Munroe in February and our purchasing date will be February 6th.
Thanks,
Mrs. Reiber

What we are learning in Room 12...
This is the area of the weekly newsletter where parents/guardians can be informed of what is planned for our week. If your child is ever going to be absent, please let me know in advance if possible, so I can send make-up work with them.
- Math - This week, we will continue to learn about our new unit -- geometry and measurement, Module 4.
- Reading - Every Tuesday from now until the AIR test in April will become "Test-Prep Tuesday" and we'll learn how to read passages and answer questions on the test. We are also learning about Martin Luther King Jr.'s life in reading class!
- Writing/Spelling - Due to the short week, the spelling test for this week has been cancelled. For writing class, we are starting our next unit about informational writing. Your child has chosen a topic and we will start to research it this week. I will send home a notice later when they need to bring in books from home or the library about their topic.
- Science - We are busy learning about rocks! So far, we have learned about the 3 types of rocks and now we are learning about the rock cycle.
