From the Desk of Mr. Ruedinger
Quarter 1 report cards will be sent home today with the middle school students. Grades 1 – 5 reports will be in the Carrier. Kindergarten and Preschool will not have reports until Semester 1 is complete on January 17th. Please keep your copy of the report card and return the signed envelope to the school office as soon as possible.
Congratulations to all the middle school students who have achieved the Academic Honor Roll for the First Quarter. Please see the Honor Roll insert in the carrier. Keep up the great work, students!
Now that the colder weather is here, please remind your children to dress appropriately for the weather. The students will be going out for recess most days. The guideline we use at CCA is the AccuWeather app and the RealFeel® temperature. The students will be kept inside when the RealFeel® temperature is below 0°. Coats, hats, scarves, mittens, snow pants, and boots are essential to keeping your children warm and dry. Thank you for your assistance.
Snow day cancellations or delays will be communicated via our closed Facebook account, Remind, and email. We follow the Sheboygan Area School District with these weather alerts.
The CCA second graders, along with the Tri-Parish second graders, will be receiving their First Reconciliation at Ss. Cyril & Methodius on Wednesday, Novmber 14th. Please keep them in your prayers as they receive this sacrament and take the next step towards First Communion in the spring.
Congratulations to the 7/8 grade CCA volleyball team as they competed in the invite-only Elizabeth Seton Volleyball Championships in Waukesha. During the week of October 29th, the team advanced to the elite eight until they were defeated by St. John XXIII, who won the tournament. The Seton is the largest 8th grade volleyball tournament in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and is the equivalent of the Padre Sierra Tournament for basketball. The team did a great job representing Christ Child Academy.

Vision Screening
During the school day on Tuesday, November 20th, Christ Child Academy will be holding a vision screening for all students in grades 3K – 5th. CCA parent and Registered Nurse, Mrs. Lori Kaesermann, will be conducting the screening with the use of the Spot Vision Screening Device from the Plymouth Lions Club. Winter Extravaganza Classroom Basket Representatives Needed
Winter Extravaganza is Saturday, February 23, 2019. One of the biggest money makers at the event is the Classroom Baskets. Each class creates a basket for the Silent Auction. The baskets usually have a theme and have some personalized touches by that class. Because of the personalization, these items usually have high bids.
We are looking for 1-2 parents from each grade to come forward to be the Classroom representative/s. These people will be the liaison for the teacher and help to come up with a theme, purchase items, set-up time with the kids for personalization, collect money from parents to cover costs, etc.
If this sounds like you - please sign up today!

DEADLINE TO SIGN UP IS NOVEMBER 30TH
Thank you for your commitment to Christ Child Academy!

All donations will be greatly appreciated! There will be collection boxes in each classroom.
Speed Stacking or Cup Stacking
Christ Child Academy will once again try to get into the Guinness Book of World Records! We will be participating in Speed Stacking with 635,000 kids all over the world! Speed stacking or cup stacking can be an individual or team sport. This sport is played worldwide that involves stacking plastic cups in a number of sequences as fast as you can. Players can compete against each other or for a time. Those that participate work on their hand-eye coordination and ambidexterity.
The date for is Thursday, November 8th. CCA Student Service Council will be running this event during lunch recess. All students will participate. We will be working on our cup stacking during that week in our physical education classes.
Check out the World Sport Stacking Association web page for more information and to see if we will make our goal of 635,000 participants! http://www.thewssa.com/stackup/2018/?

School Choice Update for 2019-2020
To expand access to Christ Child Academy, the Governance Board, the Christ Child Academy Finance Committee, and all three parishes finance councils recommend applying for the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program for the 2019-2020 school year. The Tri-Parish Pastoral Council recently met and have also acknowledged their full support of Christ Child Academy applying for School Choice.
There will be a Wisconsin Parental Choice Program informational meeting on Monday, November 19th from 6:00-7:30 pm in the Immaculate Conception Church. Terry Brown, vice president of School Choice Wisconsin, will be presenting and taking questions.
A final decision on applying for School Choice for the 2019-2020 school year will be made by late November.
Recycle Old Christmas Cards
As the time of year to send Christmas cards approaches, please consider “recycling” any cards you may have saved from last year. As an annual service project, the CCA Middle School students assemble holiday ornaments, made from old Christmas cards, and present them to the residents at Progressive Health Care Center. Because twenty cards are used in making each ornament, we are in need of old Christmas cards. Simply tear off the “picture part” of the cards (we do not use the “verse part” of the cards) and bring them to school. What a great way to “recycle,” as we bring holiday cheer to the residents at Progressive Health Care Center. Thank you!

Home & School Brat Fry Moves to Spring
The Brat Fry scheduled for November has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances and will now be rescheduled in spring with a date to be determined.
CCA Calendar Raffles
One of our main fundraisers each year is the Annual Calendar Raffle. The money raised help to keep our tuition rates as low as possible. The Calendar Raffle is a pocket calendar that features special events throughout the year at Christ Child Academy as well as some advertising. We will draw $30 winners every day of the school year. On special holidays that are listed, the cash payout is $200! The cost per Calendar is just $20.00.
As in past years, each family will receive 20 calendars to sell. This is the minimum number that we would like each family to sell. Our goal is to sell 2500 calendars for a net profit of about $40,000!!
All calendars must be sold and turned in by January 2nd, 2019 (First day back after Christmas break). State law prohibits us from selling calendars past the first drawing. We encourage you to turn the tickets in as they are sold; please do not hold on to them as we want to make sure that none get lost or forgotten.
Make sure to take the raffles with you to family get-togethers. The calendars also make great birthday or Christmas gifts for your friends and family.
CCA Calendar Raffle Incentives
Our next incentive is to sell 15+ Calendar Raffles by Monday, November 19th at 3:15 pm. Remember, this is cumulative. If your family meets this incentive, your children will participate in a Pizza party lunch on Thursday, November 29th.
We have sold 421 Calendar Raffles so far - Keep up the great work on selling!!
Selling Calendar Raffles After Mass
BINGO
The next Bingo is on Sunday, November 18th – Grades 1 & 2 families are responsible for volunteering. Please take a look at the sign up ASAP and find a time slot to work. There are also opportunities to donate food, cash or gift cards. Many hands make for light work. Thank you for your support!
Always accepting gift cards for Wal-mart, Festival & Miesfeld’s to cover costs.
2018 Annual Fund Appeal
This year, we have added a new feature for your convenience. We have partnered with GoFundMe to accept online donations for our Annual Fund Appeal.
Safeguarding All God's Family
If parents or grandparents plan to participate in field trips, work in the lunchroom, coach, or help out at school, you must attend a Safeguarding All God’s Family training through the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. You must register on-line at www.archmil.org and indicate you are associated with Christ Child Academy. If you have not previously been trained, now is a great time to attend a session.
School Mass Attire
Students are to wear their CCA polo shirts with the logo along with dress or Khaki pants or a skirt for the girls. Polo shirts are to be tucked in for both boys and girls. Any additional items such as sweaters or vests must have the CCA logo and be worn over the polo shirt. These additional items are available on the Land's End website. Yoga pants are not to be worn to Mass except under a skirt and in a solid color.
Box Tops for Education
CCA can earn money from clipping Box Tops found on various products. When you buy items, simply clip the Box Top and bring it to CCA. The Box Tops are submitted, and our school receives a check which is used towards our activity fund. It’s another easy way for you to help the school by purchasing the products you already use! Enlist your family, friends and neighbors to collect the Box Tops, too.
Kwik Trip Milk Moola
CCA will receive 5¢ (five cents) for each cap or milk bag top they redeem from Nature’s Touch® products. The program will only accept specially marked caps and bag tops that feature the Milk Moola symbol. Thank you to Paula Hilbert, who has been overseeing this program for many years!
