The EdTech Connection
Making the connection between ed and tech: 3 Dec 2018
Google + itslearning
We also just recently made a change to the way that you can distribute Google files to students through its integration in Assignments. This feature works really smoothly now, so I suggest that you take a look if you have been holding out (also mentioned below as a way to use less paper).
This is also a good time to make sure that you have connected your FCS Google account to itslearning. To check that it's correct:
- Open itslearning from ClassLink.
- Click on your name in the top-right.
- Click on "Your settings."
- Select "Connected accounts."
- Make sure that the connected Google account is your FCS account (@forsythk12.org). If no account is connected, click "Connect" and add your FCS account.
- Have your students do the same thing.
Classroom Visits
I will stay 10-15 minutes max (unless you request otherwise) and I won't come in if it looks like you're giving a test. I certainly won't make it into every classroom so if you want to be on my MUST VISIT list, fill out THIS FORM.
Here's when you can expect to see me at your school:
12/04/18: LMMS
12/05/18: LHS (RMS postponed)
12/06/18: PGMS, SFMS, LAK
12/07/18: WFHS (VCMS postponed)
12/10/18: DHS (DMS postponed)
12/11/18: SFHS
12/12/18: FCHS, OMS, AAI
12/13/18: LMS, NFHS, NFMS
12/14/18: possible day for postponed schools
Less-Paper Spotlight: Digital Copies
Is there anything more frustrating than having to go down to the copy machine? Especially when you know that your students are just going to lose whatever it is you're copying?
Save yourself the stress by making digital copies! Add that file to your Google Drive (or create it there from scratch) and then add it to itslearning! There are a couple of ways to do that:
- Get a "Share" link with VIEW access in the Google file and add a Link to itslearning.
- Add an Assignment in itslearning and link the Google file directly from your Drive (you could do this even if you don't want kids to do anything other than read it - just have them type "complete" in the submission box and you get a handy list of who says they've read it!)
Check out the full Challenge Board HERE. To play along, click the blue "Use Template" button to make your own copy, then share it back to me. After you complete each challenge, add a checkmark image to the square that you did and a comment sharing how it went!
