What We're Learning
Math- This week in math we will continue learning about Fractions. Our focus this week will be on the Fraction standards 4.NF.2 and 4.NF.3.
4.NF.2 Compare two fractions with different numerators and different denominators, e.g., by creating common denominators or numerators, or by comparing to a benchmark fraction such as 1/2. Recognize that comparisons are valid only when the two fractions refer to the same whole.
4.NF.3 Understand a fraction a/b with a > 1 as a sum of fractions 1/b. Understand addition of fractions as joining and separating parts referring to the same whole.
Writing- We will continue working on our Informational Books. We will begin "publishing" them into an ebook before Spring Break.
Social Studies- In social studies this week we will begin learning about the Cherokee Native Americans.
Science- We have a student teacher coming from UNC-A to observe science Monday and Wednesday. His name is Mr. Aisthorpe. We are learning about magnets this week!

B.Y.O.T Update
As we enter a new age of digital learning our kids are considered "digital natives." Children are welcome and encouraged in my classroom to use technology to learn. Here are some examples of learning with technology going on right now:
- Research for informational books on NC History
- Publishing of informational books on NC History
- Creating "Stopmotion" videos to demonstrate their understanding of Area and Perimeter
- Listening to fluent readers on "MyOn" and "Tumble books"
Students can use technology to continue and enhance learning! If you have questions, please let me know.
