This week in math we reviewed for and took our Unit 2 test. I am so amazed at the progress students have made throughout the unit! Next week we will be moving on to our multiplication unit. I have been encouraging students to work each night to memorize their multiplication facts.

I am loving science and the work the students are producing. This week students will finish up and present their animals that have adapted to a new habitat. After that we will begin social studies and learning all about our government!

Language Arts

Our focus this week was on writing compound sentences. Ask your child to explain compound sentences and conjunctions.

Here is an example: We went on a field trip, and our class had an amazing day!

We read a story this week called Letters Home from Yosemite. Our class is learning all about the National Park. We are also working on finding the main idea of a paragraph or page and details that support the main idea. It is a tough skill, but we are working hard to understand it.

On September 30th, Caden turned in his PAWS to bring in a show and tell item. He chose to bring in his vest that contains badges from all the National Parks he has visited. Wow! He has visited a lot of places. It fit perfectly with our story this week too!
