The WJHS Panther Weekly Update
January 29th, 2021
Hello Panther Community
I hope everyone is doing well and each of you have a nice weekend. Please take a look below at some important pieces of information regarding you/your Panther!
Sticking with Hybrid Schedule on Future Snow Days:
If we have any additional snow days in the future, students should follow their Hybrid schedules from home. Don't worry, we will give reminders of this in STAR classes.
Weekly Evening Tutoring at WJHS
With a year+ of unique challenges we are providing weekly tutoring at WJHS by four of our WJHS teachers. This will occur on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8 PM. Please look further below for more and the SignUpGenius link.
February 3rd, 2021 is SIP Day
Students meet in STAR classes from 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM for attendance and activities. After that, 6th/7th grade students will have asynchronous instruction for the rest of the day while the 8th grade students will take the PSAT (the HS is working on this schedule and the instructions).
8th GRADE PARENTS (Pictures Information):
Our 8th grade students will be able to take their graduation photos on SIP Day, February 3rd, 2021, from 2 PM to 7 PM in the WJHS Commons. To keep a good, but SAFE flow, the PTO helped us create a Sign-Up Genius for this event. Additionally, Lifetouch indicated that they will be using gowns in pictures (they will have them here). The gowns are being steam cleaned between students.

The People's Resource Center - Westmont, IL
Food Pantry
Neighbors are making hard choices as they care for their families and balance health, housing and work. Our Food Pantry offers a variety of quality food, and connects clients with other PRC services and resources.
Since March, PRC has adapted our food delivery process from a choice pantry to providing pre-packaged food to parked cars. Volunteers choose items for each client during food pantry hours, including fresh produce, high-protein food, dairy products, frozen meats, whole grain items and healthy non-perishables such as beans and vegetables. All items are safe and high-quality. Personal-care items and cleaning products are also distributed when available.
Who can use Food Pantry services?
Anyone in need of food from DuPage County can come for food. You will have to register as a PRC client. Come to People’s Resource Center during food pantry hours to register. CLICK HERE to learn more!
The Price You Pay for College: An Entirely New Road Map for the Biggest Financial Decision Your Family Will Ever Make
Ron Lieber with Terry Savage
Thu, Feb 4 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Sticker prices at flagship state universities can now top $125,000 for four years of tuition, room and board for state residents. At many selective private colleges, students who began this past fall will pay $300,000. Discounts are available, but the financial aid system that governs them works differently at different schools and can be wildly unpredictable.
Once you have offers of admission and aid, you have to make a decision about value. When does paying an extra $50,000 or $150,000 for one school over another make sense? For a smaller or larger size? For access to professors or guaranteed internships? For an alumni network that is quantifiably stronger than others? And in considering all these questions as parents, how do we reckon with the guilt, fear, aspiration and snobbery that inevitably invade our minds in the process?
Ron Lieber will be interviewed by Terry Savage, a nationally recognized expert on personal finance, the economy, and the markets. She writes a weekly personal finance column syndicated in major newspapers by Tribune Content Agency. She is the author of four best-selling books on personal finance. A new edition of her best-selling book, The Savage Truth on Money is now available on Amazon.com. The first edition was named one of the top ten money books of the year by Amazon.com. Her other recent book is: The Savage Number: How Much Money do You Really Need to Retire? She is also co-author of The New Love Deal. She is featured on WGN Radio and WGN-TV in Chicago, with a weekly personal finance segment.
