Cardboard Challenge- STEAM activity- Cardboard Needed- Volunteers can help the week of October 16-20 email if you can help.
Math- We are continuing to build our understanding of the number system by studying place and base ten concepts. This week are spending a lot of time on renaming units, or figuring out how many 10's, 100's, 1000's, etc. are in a million. We are continuing our understanding of the base-ten system this week by looking at powers of ten and writing values using exponents.
Reading- Students will work on comparing and contrasting settings and events in multiple texts by using textual evidence to support their thinking. With the reader's workshop, it is imperative that students remember to bring their independent reading book to class every day. As a reminder, students should be reading nightly. I have told the students that if they are having to complete any reading for their other classes, that they can use that as their reading time and that they should just note it on their reading log.
Social Studies- We are studying the relationships between European explorers (France, Spain and England) and Indigenous groups in the Americas. Students will be examining primary sources to learn about Jamestown. No homework
