Give the Gift of Education to Girls
at Young Women's College Prep Charter School
It's Not Too Late to Make a Difference In 2015!
86% of the students at Young Women's College Prep Charter School come from low-income families, and a majority of them attend YWCP for the promise that they will be the first in their family to graduate from a four-year college. We can fulfill that promise with your help!
Please support this mission by including YWCP in your year-end giving. It takes all of us working together to achieve incredible results. Here's a reminder of what we've already been able to accomplish together this school year:
- All students in grades 8-10 took the PSAT this fall. Taking the test early provides practice and familiarity with the test, leading to better scores down the road.
- 50 students from each grade will be visiting at least two college campuses this year as part of Destination: College. This fall, the 8th graders visited the University of Rochester, the 9th graders visited St. John Fisher College, and the 10 graders traveled to Alfred University. The 7th graders will tour Genesee Community College in January, and more tours are being planned for the spring.
- 40 incoming students spent three weeks on the campus of Nazareth College for 7th Grade Summer Bridge. They attended classes, completed STEM projects with the Girl Scouts of WNY, and took field trips to the Erie Canal; Letchworth State Park; and Seneca Park Zoo.
- 35 girls spent three nights and four days living on the campus of RIT for 9th Grade Summer Bridge. They took classes such as Freshman Orientation and Career Exploration; participated in an RIT College Fair and the Summit Federal Credit Union's Mad City Money Program, and did team building activities at Camp Arrowhead in Pittsford.
All of these programs were made possible thanks to the generous donors who support the YWCP Foundation. If you'd like to help us continue this work, please make a tax-deductible donation to the YWCP Foundation using the button below. Gifts made by December 31st for eligible for a 2015 tax credit.
The mission of the YWCP Foundation is to break the cycle of poverty for young urban girls by increasing their economic self-sufficiency through improved leadership skills, career awareness, college readiness, and college access. To accomplish this, YWCP Inc. creates, implements, and supports innovative programs that educate the whole girl - academically, socially, and emotionally.
