Full Scale Safety Exercise @ SHS on Thursday, September 13, 2018
We are happy to partner with many of our local agencies to have a full scale safety exercise this fall to test not only our safety plans and procedures but also let the other agencies test their responses and procedures as well.
Please note that upon the inception of this exercise, normal school day operations will be disrupted for a period of time.
In order to properly test SHS Safety Process and Procedures as part of the overall exercise, we will not be releasing much information.
However, the day will include the following for SHS Students and Staff:
* A Level Red LockDown which will be initiated through our normal processes
* Law Enforcement Response to "neutralize" the threat and stabilize the scene
* EMS response, triage, and transport of "victims"
* Mass evacuation procedures to Family Reunification Site through the direction and oversight of local law enforcement in collaboration with school and district administrative personnel
* Debrief with Staff and Students at Family Reunification Site
* Reverse Evacuation back to SHS to resume the rest of the school day until regular dismissal time

American Perspectives visits Underground Railroad Sites
The students toured both buildings, discussed acceptance, and even got to go into a tunnel rumored to have been used during the time to help transport escaped slaves. Students also got the chance to learn about the culture of the Victorian Era post-War United States. The students got to see just how influential a few dedicated people could be in standing up for others.”
