A reminder that Term 4 summer sport team registrations close on the school shop today! Here is a summary of the competitions TPS will be entering sports teams into. If you require more information there are details on the school shop. All team lists will be emailed to players in week 1 of Term 4.
Rippa and RIP Rugby run by BOP Rugby Union
Both Rippa and RIP Rugby are modified games of rugby that are fun and simple to play. They are great for those who don't play rugby, as they are non-contact, and for those who do, to keep their skills and fitness up in the off-season.
Who: Boys and girls Years 1-6
Where: Greerton Park
Dates: Thursday 28th October - Thursday 2nd December
Times: Year 1 & 2s - 4:00pm - 4:30pm / Year 3 - 6s - between 4:30pm and 5:30pm
Cost: $13.00 per player
Mini Polo (formerly known as Flippaball) run by Tauranga Waterpolo Association
Mini Polo is a modified version of waterpolo. The game provides the opportunity to develop water confidence and swimming skills, plus the basic skills of passing and catching.
Who: Boys and girls Years 3-6
Where: Memorial Pool
Dates: Tuesday 9th November - Tuesday 7th December (Please note that the starting date has changed since the last newsletter).
Cost: $58.00 per player (includes pool entry)
Kiwi Volleyball run by Tauranga Volleyball
Kiwi Volleyball is a kid-friendly version with only four players on the court and lowered nets. Great for the development of basic volleyball skills - serve, set, pass and spike.
Who: Boys and girls Years 3-6
Where: QEYC @ Memorial Park
Dates: Friday 5th November - Friday 17th December
Cost: $27.00 per player
Fast Football run by Blue Rovers
Fast Football is like Futsal but played outside. Fewer players allows each child more opportunity with the ball, and a smaller space puts more emphasis on ball control, player movement and teamwork. The results are not recorded to keep the game fun.
Who: Boys and girls Years 1-6
Where: Morland Fox Park @ Greerton
Dates: Tuesday 26th October - Tuesday 7th December
Cost: $15.00 per player
Most of these teams have sufficient numbers, however, there is plenty of space for more Fast Football players.
This year we encourage those students wanting to play Junior Cricket to play for one of our local clubs. The Otumoetai Cadets is situated at the Tauranga Domain and caters for all ages and abilities. To register go to www.otumoetaicadets.org or email cadetscricket@gmail.com
There will be a girls-only free cricket skills programme at TPS on Wednesday mornings in the first three weeks of Term 4. This is for any year 4-6 girls wanting to improve their cricket skills and is in lead up to the GoGirls Super 6s Cricket Tournament in November. If your daughter is interested in attending please email me with their name and year group.
