Lake Tahoe Unified School District - Student Services
Greetings LTUSD friends and families,
I'd like to thank everyone who attended the Barton Community Health Fair on October 19, 2023, at Bijou Community School. It was a huge success! The goal of the Health Fair was to meet students and families where they were, and hundreds of families were able to connect with health and education partners who provide valuable resources to everyone. El Dorado County Public Health vaccinated over 300 people. Not only did attendees receive vaccines, Tacos Por Favor provided dinner for everyone. A huge shout-out to Barton Health Public Relations Specialist Thea Hardy and Barton Community Outreach and Relations Specialist Natasha Schue for organizing the event.
Check out our Community Resources page at Community Resources at ltusd.org for information about community resources.
I would also like to mention that the Bread & Broth (B&B) 4 Kids Cram-A-Hearse fundraiser is happening on October 28, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m at Grocery Outlet, 2358 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe. Every Friday, during the school year, B&B 4 Kids sends students in need home with a bag of food for weekend nourishment. B&B 4 Kids also provides snacks for students during the school day. Please stop by Grocery Outlet on Saturday, October 28, 2023, and help Cram-A-Hearse. You can make a cash donation or purchase food items from the Wish List.

Get to know your terrific Timberwolf secretaries!
South Tahoe Middle School (STMS) is home to three terrific secretaries.
Monica Candelario is the secretary to Principal Cindy Martinez. Carmen, Monica’s daughter, tells us, “Monica is a goof ball”. Monica loves to dance and people love her humor. According to Monica, the best part of her job is that the day is never the same. Monica has dedicated half her life to LTUSD.
Perla Tapia is the Senior Attendance/Registrar and Counselor’s Secretary. Perla loves the different personalities she encounters while interacting with students and staff and really enjoys the fact that each day is different. Perla is a spontaneous and caring person and she noted that at the end of the day, “the kids make your day!”
Lupe Flores Martinez is the Dean of Students/Assistant Principal/ASB secretary and the STMS Facilities Coordinator. Lupe enjoys working at the Student Relations Office because there is never a dull moment. She likes getting to know the students and encouraging them to make good life choices. Assistant Principal Tom Brown and Dean of Students Andrew Lubrano have welcomed Lupe into their team and she is grateful to work with them.
Principal Martinez loves her team of secretaries because they are collaborative, problem solvers, and really fun!
