What Will We Be Learning This Week?
Math
We will begin our unit on Decimals next week. Students will learn the place value of numbers through the hundredths place. They will learn to read decimals and will begin comparing them.
Science
Thanks so much to those of you who came to help out at the Science Center on Tuesday! The kids had a great time and we appreciate your time very much.
Next week, we will begin our unit on Rocks and Minerals. Students will record what they already know about rocks and minerals and discuss properties of rocks and minerals.
Language Arts
There will not be any spelling this week due to the Success Celebration on Monday.

Valentine's Day
If your child would like to bring in Valentine cards or a Valentine mailbox, he/she is welcome to do so. We ask that if you choose to send in cards, please include all students in your child’s homeroom class. Valentines can be sent in on Friday, February 12th. We will have a snack and deliver Valentines at some point on that day. Thanks so much!
Grandfather Mountain Field Trip
Just another reminder that you must have a background check on file in our front office if you would like to chaperone our Grandfather Mountain field trip on April 12th. Background checks are good for 2 years from the time of approval, and I am finding that some of your checks have expired. To check to see if your background check is current, please email Debbie Meyers at Deborah_Meyers@catawbaschools.net or call her in the front office at 466.7065. If you would like a form to have a check completed, let Ms. Ellis know and we will send an application home with your child. This takes several weeks to process, so please fill one out as soon as possible!
