Weekly Update
Week of August 14th, 2023
I hope that everyone has had a great weekend and ready to begin our first full week of school. On Thursday and Friday, we concentrated our efforts on organizing supplies and beginning to get to know each other while learning a couple of classroom procedures.
This week we will continue to weave in times for learning classroom procedures and getting to know each other while beginning some academics. On Friday, the students received their first homework packet. The homework for this week is an All About Me Bloom Ball (dodecahedron) project. It is not due until August 25th. Students and parents may work on this together. Projects should be completed according to the rubric in the packet (neatly, colorfully). Projects can be assembled according to the directions in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIEKP_0DIMc.
This coming Friday the students will receive another packet of homework. All homework is sent home on Fridays and due back the morning of the following Friday when students come to class.
Students have also set up their agenda binders. These will go home each night. As stated previously, if there was a successful day then you will see a sticker. If there were ongoing behavior problems, then I will send home a behavior form or note in the agenda book. Please be sure to check agendas each night and sign them. I ask that you only sign one day at a time.
Parents were given a purple folder on Open House with important papers about our school year. Please make sure the student contact information sheet and the media release are completed and returned as soon as possible. Also, when possible, please send in $10 for our student shirts.
Please review Mrs. Sutera's Titan Family Update (https://www.smore.com/zsdm7-titan-family-update?ref=email) for new information for this school year. Pay close attention to our new Plato Policy Manual, Focus Parent Portal, Healthcare Services, Dress Code, Carline Tags, and Breakfast/Lunch.
Below you will find information regarding our week ahead.
Thank you for helping us begin our year strong! I'm looking forward to spending more time with the students this week and getting our year under way.
Have a wonderful evening!
Ms. Sawyer
