Staff Update

Teacher Macbooks
As we solidify plans, we will communicate with you as we approach July.
What do you need to know now?
-Start backing up any files saved directly to your device.
-I would anticipate and plan that all staff members at HSA will not have a Macbook from July 1- July 22. This is NOT set in stone. However, I would plan your summer with this in mind. *You will keep all accessories. They just need the Macbook.*
Kindergarten Summer School
Mrs. Robinson and Ms. Jones will be joining us as teachers. Please help me in welcoming them to our team.
Here are a few things you should know related to the schedule:
-Lunch: 11:15 - 11:40.
-Recess: 11:40 -12:10
-Specials: Either 1:15 or 2:00 - We are adding a fourth specials rotation (Computer Lab) to allow this to happen. Thank you to the kindergarten and first grade teams for the flexibility.
-Recess: 3:15 - 3:45
Supervision
Supervision of Students Safety is #1 and is largely the teachers’ responsibility. It is unacceptable to leave children under the supervision of unauthorized personnel or to leave them unsupervised, including A+ and parent volunteers. Doing so has important legal implications. Failure to return to classes with the children after recess or leaving them to take care of another concern is not permitted. Leaving them with non-certified staff should only be done in an urgent situation and as a last resort. Teachers must be able to supervise their class from the minute they come in (usually 9:00). Children should not be sent to the hall. “Knowing they are out there” is not the same as supervision. Before School: Breakfast students may enter at 8:50 and must go directly to the cafeteria. All students will enter at 9:00. All certified staff should be at their doors (homeroom teachers) or in the halls supervising and greeting students. Inclement weather may require students to enter earlier and teacher supervision will be needed during those exceptions. Specials teachers and special education staff will assist with a.m. duty per the duty schedule. After School: Each grade level will need to have two teachers on duty every afternoon. One will be supervising walkers/car riders while the other is supervising buses. The walker/car rider teacher will escort those students all the way out (curbside) to monitor how they depart the school property/who they depart with. All should remain on duty until the last student has departed. If this exceeds reasonable time (definitely by 4:25) teachers may bring children to the office to call for transportation. Playground: two adults, one of which must be a certified teacher, should supervise at all classes all times on the playground. One certified teacher may supervise individual classes. While supervising students, you should be continually scanning the playground. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Safety is our number 1 priority!
