Academy of the Arts at Bransom
February 5-9, 2018 (School Days 100-104)
A Note From Your Principal
Academy of the Arts Families,
It is a beautiful time of the year. Students are preparing Valentine cards for their classmates, the weather is giving us glimpses of "nice", and the Super Bowl commercials are fresh on our minds. Seriously, it is a good time to reassess, reorganize, and recommit to the resolutions and goals of the year.
This week is National Counselors' Week. I know many of you know our counselor, Sheri McCrory. She definitely gives of herself everyday to help the school run smoothly as well as help students become an integral part of the school community. She has been a part of Bransom Elementary since its opening in 2002. We appreciate her devotion to not only the teachers and students of the school but also the parents of our community. Thank you, parents, for showing her your support.
This week at the Academy of the Arts, fifth graders will be traveling to Camp Grady Spruce at Possum Kingdom Lake for a three day field trip to experience many outdoor learning opportunities along with further learning of science concepts introduced in the classroom. Please keep them in your thoughts as they prepare for the trip, travel to and from the trip, and participate in the trip's adventures. I would like to say thanks to the parents who will be attending for some or all of the trip. Our amazing fifth grade teachers appreciate the assistance of the parents to keep guard around the students. They are all so precious.
In closing, I want to say that the new schedule is working quite well. The changes have given teachers time to provide additional assistance to students as needed. I want to remind you that teachers have so much that they manage. Obviously, they are making differentiated plans and using a variety of instructional strategies that work for different students. Your support of your child's teacher as well as for your child is extremely appreciated. If you ever feel that you have time and you would like to volunteer within the school, let us know and we'll get you signed up.
Thanks again for ALL you do,
Mrs. Burchfield
Mrs. McCrory, Our School Counselor
