Leadership Team Message
Happy Thanksgiving!
As I reflect on this message from my hotel room in chilly Calgary this weekend, I am reminded how blessed we truly are. We are away from home this Thanksgiving at my daughter's Irish Dance Competition, yet we are surrounded by friends who are like "family". That is how I feel about the St. John XXIII school community - just a really big extended family... "It takes a village"!
What are you giving thanks for this weekend?
I know that our entire St. John XXIII school community are thankful for our students who come to school every day ready to learn – they give us all a daily reminder of what is important and why we are here.
We are thankful for the teachers, educational assistants, custodians, librarians, bus drivers, secretaries, noon hour supervisors, support staff, counselors and facilitators who really care about our students and have the best interests of our students at heart. We are also thankful for our volunteers who enthusiastically contribute so much to our school.
Most importantly, we are thankful for you, the parents, that have kept the faith in us. You continue to share your most valuable possessions with us, and advocate to be a partner in your children’s education, safety and well-being. For this, we are ever so thankful.
Keeping with the Irish theme, I'd like to share a little blessing:
An Old Irish Blessing
May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!
On behalf of the entire St. John XXIII School Community, I would like to wish all of you, and your families, a happy, healthy, safe and relaxing Thanksgiving!
Blessings,
Mrs. Melnyk & the St. John XXIII Staff
New Report Card introduced for 2016 - 2017
Communication of Student Learning is an ongoing process that involves all the key stakeholders; students, parents, and teachers. The report card is one part of the entire communication system, which represents a snapshot in time of a much larger picture of your child’s learning. This year there will be new language introduced in your child's report card which will reflect new assessment measures being used in the classroom. Please visit this link to learn more. Further information about your child's learning is also available at our EICS division website under Parent Resources.

What a beautiful celebration we had on Thursday morning. Thank you to Father Moses for saying Mass for our students, staff, and the many parents, grandparents and siblings that joined us as we raised our prayers of gratitude to our Lord.

Thank you to the many special guests who stopped in throughout the week to share their love of reading. We truly did hear from Many Voices. The winner of our classroom reading challenge was . . . Mrs. Lisa Morin's Grade 3 class - congratulations!
