Principal Post
Hope to see you at "Passport to Science" this evening. There will be a family assembly starting at 6pm followed by a variety of science activities located in the gym, lobby and hallways. This "Science Night Out" is scheduled from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thanks to Mrs. Frattinger and DuJardin parent Loriann Hoyle for organizing this event, Mrs. Harsila for promoting the event and to the DuJardin PTO for supporting this wonderful after hours event.
Parents, your patience is greatly appreciated at the end of the day during student pick up. It typically takes 7-8 minutes to clear the parking lot and get all the students picked up at dismissal. Below are a few tips for afternoon pick up at dismissal time:
Pick your child up after the rush of dismissal; try arriving at 3:35 instead of waiting in a long line of cars from 3:20-3:35.
Park your car on Euclid Ct., Tee St., or Freeport and walk to the front entrance to greet your child at dismissal. Parking on either side of Euclid Ave. is illegal (no parking signs are posted).
Follow the directions of the staff members in the parking lot attempting to move cars to the open spaces along the curb. Children are to be picked up along the curb from in front of the office all the way to the school sign.
DO NOT leave your car unattended at any time in the drive thru lane in order to pick up your child.
Stay in your car while you are waiting along the curb to pick up your child, a staff member will send your child to your car.
TURN RIGHT out of the parking lot on Euclid versus a left turn which will clear the parking lot much faster.
Please be a positive role model for our students as you drive in the parking lot during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal. Please be aware of our safety patrols on duty before and after school. Remember - Children may not always listen to what we say but they are always watching what we do.
DuJardin School has been selected to participate in the 2019-2020 National Assessment of Educational Progress, also known as NAEP. It is the largest continuing and nationally representative assessment of what students across the country know and can do in a variety of subjects. Some of our nine-year-olds have been selected to take assessments in math, or reading. The parents of those students selected have been notified by mail and with a letter sent home with their child. This NAEP Assessment is scheduled for Tuesday, February 11th at 9:30 a.m.
2019-2020 Illinois Parent Survey
Dear Parent, The Illinois State Board of Education invites you to participate in a school improvement survey for parents. In this survey, you will be asked to provide feedback about DuJardin School. Please consider your child’s current experience at school (i.e., 2019-2020 school year). This survey is designed to help school and district leadership improve their understanding of the parent/school relationship.
All responses are completely anonymous. Responses to anonymous surveys cannot be traced back to the respondent. Additionally, your responses will be combined with other parents from DuJardin School and summarized in a school report to further protect your anonymity. Your participation in this survey is voluntary and you have the right to discontinue participation at any point.
If you have more than one (1) child, you may elect to participate multiple times.
The 5Essentials Parent Survey is now open. Parents are encouraged to complete this survey. Please use the following link to access the parent survey: http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/

Each year, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) releases the annual School Report Card, available to view on the ISBE website: www.illinoisreportcard.com. The Report Card shows district and individual school progress on a wide range of educational goals. One component of the School Report Card is the summative designation – a descriptor of how well our schools are meeting the needs of all students. This designation is based on eight indicators of academic success and school quality. We are proud to share that all Bloomingdale District 13 Schools have earned high designations for overall data for all accountability indicators as well as data for individual student groups. DuJardin Elementary School received the Exemplary designation, which indicates overall performance in the top 10% of all schools. Erickson Elementary School and Westfield Middle School both received the Commendable designation, with overall data indicating no underperforming student groups.
For the first time ever, these designations and academic indicators appear on the School Report Card alongside site-based expenditures – how much money the district spends per student. With these two data points, the District has the opportunity to take a closer look at the relationship between financial investments and student outcomes.
District 13 welcomes this opportunity to dive into our data and talk about additional improvements and investments that can be made to support every student in reaching their goals. Bloomingdale School District 13 is strongest when we all work together as a greater community to achieve these goals.
