Ms. Janjua's Grade 5-6 Art Class
Newsletter #2: "Who We Are" | October 2016
Salaamu Alaykum!
Fifth & Sixth grade students have spent a considerable amount of time exploring key concepts, as well as focusing on concepts revolving around the Elements of Art, such as line, shape, form, color, value, space and texture, and the Principles of Design, such as pattern, emphasis, variety, unity, balance and rhythm. We've watched some entertaining videos using clay stop-motion, for example, to initially explore these elements, and then we applied what we learned to actual works of art created by other Artists by identifying and conveying what we saw and felt. Students were engaged and eager to voice their opinions, mashaAllah, and it's been a beautiful experience for me to witness their enthusiasm in sharing and revealing what they have learned.
Students have been using their journals in all sorts of creative ways, as well as developing their skills in experimenting with different art media, art processes and techniques, mashaAllah. All of our work thus far will lead up to an exciting Art-specific summative project where students will be asked to create a work of art using Elements of Art and Principles of Design. I've attached a photo of a model project down below for your reference.
I hope you enjoy the photos of our progress, and please feel free to visit the Visual Arts Studio or email me any time with comments and feedback, inshaAllah! JazakAllah Khair :)
