May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope (Romans 15:13)

Dear whānau, tamariki and parishioners,

On Thursday we were fortunate to welcome Stretch O'Neill into school to talk with the Senior students to mark Armistice Day. Stretch shared with us the life story of Mr Edmund Bowler, of Gore who Bowler Avenue is named after. He was one of the first New Zealanders in Gallipoli and is one of New Zealand's most famous war heroes. The children really enjoyed hearing about the local connection, and I was really proud of how the children listened with genuine respect.

This week I would like to welcome three new children into Room Bellbird - and it seems like this is the last intake for the year. We warmly welcome Reagan Muller who joins big brother Hayden into school; Caitlin Fenix who is the first in her family to come to St Mary's and Reese Abernethy who joins her big brother, Hugh, and sister Paige here with us.

God bless, kia kaha, Annie

The movie is available to order!

Here is the link for Cinderella Rockerfella for you to put in an order for purchase. We have organised the movie premiere at SBS St James' for the students so hopefully you will hear them raving about that in the coming week or so.

Congratulations

Congratulations Briar on your well deserved success in the Country Music Awards. What a great talent you have.

Te kupu o te wiki - the word of the week

The words this week whānau meaning family, and can be used when talking about your community. It's still appropriate to use last week's example of Kia kaha o te whānau - be strong family. It is a word you will have heard in assemblies when we sing Happy Birthday - with Rā whānau - meaning birthday.
