Appearance & Classification
An ocelot is a really beautiful animal. Did you know that an ocelot is 20 to 40 inches long? The weight of an ocelot is 20 to 27 pounds. Did you know that the height of an ocelot is 25 to 39 inches tall. An ocelot is a mammal. Usually the color of an ocelot are brownish yellow to reddish grey marked with black spots on its back side. It has dark spots on its face and head. Did you know that the ocelot is called the Painted Leopard because of its gorgeous markings.
Habitat Information
Do you know where an ocelot lives? Ocelots live in Southern America. They live in tropical jungle, grasslands and marshes. The weather conditions are hot tropical and sunny.
Predator & Prey
An ocelot likes to eat lots of different foods. Ocelots like to eat small mammals, birds, snakes, lizards, fish, small deer, monkeys, anteaters, turtles and rodents. An ocelot finds its food in tall tall trees. Did you know that an ocelot has enemies? They are people, pumas, jaguars and harpy eagles. An ocelot protects itself by climbing up tall trees and camouflaging into the leaves.

Do you want to know some facts about ocelots? The ocelot only lives up to 8 to 12 years. They are related to cats, pumas, leopards, jaguars and panthers. Ocelots were hunted for their fur. They are now on the endangered list.
