Principal's Message
Our staff had a productive professional development day today where they learned about restorative practices in the classroom including community circles for building relationships. We spent time analyzing student data in math and ELA to make sure we are helping our students on their level with their specific needs. In the afternoon teachers broke into action groups to come up with a plan for continuing to implement our STAR principles in our school for our students. We are excited to see everyone again on Monday.
Recently, we started a new initiative in our school where we hand out Wildcat Paw tickets to students who are doing a great job demonstrating our STAR principles (Stay Safe, Take Responsibility, Always be Kind, Respect Everyone). Our students have been earning so many tickets! At the end of each week winners are drawn from the buckets of tickets to earn a prize from Mrs. Pease and me. Once our students earn 300 tickets, we will have a whole school reward. Our students are really excited about earning paws and have been making us so proud with their STAR behavior. This month, I challenged students to show STAR behavior in our bathrooms. We have been noticing a bit more unsafe behavior in our bathrooms. Our students have risen to the challenge and are being more responsible and safe while out of the classroom. Families can help us by reinforcing this challenge at home, ensuring students are safe in the bathroom. We appreciate your help in meeting this challenge.
Boz is back! AES welcomes our favorite therapy dog back to the classroom to read with students.

Principal's Reading Recommendation
"Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn," by Kenard Pak is a great book to read as we head into the autumn season. Some of our favorite activities at Ashbrook are going for leaf hunts and sorting our leaves by shape and color. This is a great season to spend some time outdoors.
