From the Principal's Desk...
Give and gifts will be given to you
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are working to conclude all of our required standardized IOWA and CogAt testing. These national tests help us to identify how our students are doing in comparison to all other students in schools all over the nation. We will share these results with you when the company returns them to us near the end of the school year. Thank you for having your daughters and sons here on time last week. The process of using our two-hour delay schedule to complete the majority of these tests worked very well.
This week our faculty and staff will be receiving their second COVID vaccinations on Thursday. As stated earlier, we will be using remote days this Thursday and Friday to enable us to be vaccinated. Teachers will be available on Thursday with the exception of the times for their appointments, and they will be available on Friday unless they are feeling ill due to the second dose. Thanks for your support and cooperation.
I am hopeful that once the faculty and staff are fully vaccinated that we will have fewer adult quarantines, and we may be able to review our student quarantine protocols. Please know that what we have been doing has been for the health and safety of everyone, and our best practices have been very effective in preventing any COVID spread within the school.
We are in the second week of our Lenten Journey. The readings which the Church identifies for each day during Lent challenge us to reflect upon how we are choosing to live our lives.
This week, I was particularly drawn to the Gospel for Monday (LK 6:36-38). It is a passage that I have always found to be very powerful. Jesus says to His disciples and to us. “Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.”
During this Lenten Season and in the midst of the challenges of this pandemic, may we choose to be attentive to what Jesus calls us to do. May we recognize our gifts and give them away freely; may we be people of generosity. In so doing, we will come to know give and gifts will be given to you.
Peace,
Dan Minelli
