Wimmer's Weekly
English IV, Writing Skills/Technical Writing, Yearbook
Week Seven (October 9-13, 2017)
I am so sorry that you are just receiving this week's newsletter...I was out sick Monday and Tuesday, but am back and trying to get caught up!
The last few weeks have been so great! Your students are doing fantastic and moving right along in our lessons. Thank you for all the support at home.
English IV
This week in English IV, I am introducing Medieval Literature by reviewing British history and Medieval literary elements. We are preparing to read Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales Prologue, The Wife of Bath and The Pardoner's Tale). We will focus primarily on characterization by analyzing the Chaucer's work.
Writing Skills/Technical Writing
We are taking a break from essays and focusing on reading strategies. I have assigned vocabulary for the short story "The Lottery" and we will read the work as a class. The students will annotate the writing and prepare for a multiple choice, STAAR style quiz over the piece.
Yearbook
The first part of the week will be spent on UIL style feature writing. I am hoping to not only gain some UIL participants for this year's competitions, but also strengthen the writing that appears in the yearbook. On Thursday, I will begin assigning spreads and we will begin designing.
