Focusing on healthy plant oils, like coconut, avocado, olive, almond, and sesame, can help lower blood cholesterol levels and decrease your risk of heart disease. Medium chain fat found in coconuts may also help decrease blood pressure and is easier to digest.
Omega 3 Fats
Fish (salmon, tuna, trout, mackerel, sardines and herring)
Omega 3s are necessary for brain function and helps reduce inflammation. Our body doesn't make it, so we have to get it from food. These heart healthy oils are also found in ground flax and walnuts. Our diets are too heavy in Omega 6 and not enough in Omega 3.
Toss some walnuts, sunflower seeds, or pumpkin seeds into your next salad.
Eat salmon 1x week, try trout on a bagel for breakfast, throw a sardine or 2 on your pizza!
