Art
Islamic geometric canvas painting
Students worked on Islamic geometric patterns and created eight pointed star design by following meticulous steps.
First they used square 12 inches paper that they folded horizontally, vertically and diagonally, to identify these lines, then they further subdivided the space to generate new lines and shapes, they used the pencil and the ruler to create all the constructions lines and then bolded only the lines defining the final islamic geometric pattern. In this project the students realized the importance of precision, and they also learned to appreciate this art tradition developed by muslim artists for centuries.
Students developed their fine motor skills, and observed the connections between art and geometry.
Students then transferred the pattern they created onto their 12 inches square canvas.
They used a toothpick to create holes on the major dots defining the main shapes and transferred the dots onto the canvas and then connected the dots using a pencil and a ruler.
The students will paint their canvases the upcoming art class.
