Creating a Dynamic Virtual Learning Environment
KIBSD is hosting a statewide 2-day conference for distance,online, and virtual educators. While the focus in on K-12 learning, university level attendees will also be joining us. The keynote speaker is Paul Anderson from Bozeman Science.com/featured TED talk speaker/You Tube EduGuru. Paul Anderson will also be leading a workshop session on making high quality videos for virtual learning. Colin Osterhout, a 2014 ASTE presenter on Minecraft, will be leading a workshop session on Minecraft Edu. Chick Beckley, KIBSD tech director, will lead a workshop on Moodle course design. The conference offers 2 days of intense professional development, as well as daily roundtable discussions and networking time. Attendees can also earn a continuing education college credit through Kodiak Community College. Those interested in earning college credit will be invited to attend 2 additional webinars with Paul Anderson before and after the conference. The exciting part about the conference is that registration is free! The KIBSD conference team is looking forward to seeing attendees on August 7th & 8th in beautiful Kodiak at KIBSD’s Northstar Elementary School. The conference days run from 8:00am-4:30pm. A Meet & Greet is planned for attendees arriving on Wednesday, August 6th at the Aquamarine Café at 7:00pm. Thursday evening, a hike to and around Northend Park on Near Island is planned at 7:00pm.
