There are so many exciting activities going on! Please keep a watchful eye on the calendar. You don't want to miss anything!

We have had several kiddos with a tummy bug. Please remember not to send your child to school if they have thrown up and wait 24 hours after. Same thing with a fever, they must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school. Thanks for helping keep our classroom a healthy place!

Dot Day was a huge success! We ate dots, read The Dot by Peter Reynolds and wore dots. We created our own artistic dots. The kids discussed ways they can make their mark on the world. We went through some very cool stations in the library exploring Braille and Morse Code. An 8th grade English class from McKamy came over and partnered up with us to create digital dots and go through digital stations. It was a great day!

I was out on Friday and have had a pretty crazy and unusual schedule at home the last week. Lots of out of town family and school obligations for my high schooler. I will get all the graded papers to you this week. Thank you for your understanding.

Have a great week!

Language Arts- We did a mini author study over Kevn Henkes. The kids wrote summaries, compared/contrasted, did character analyzing and looked for the "lesson" in his stories. We worked on compound words too.

Math-We are working on different addition strategies. We learned about adding 3 numbers, making a ten and looking for easy combination to add.

Science-We began learning about the properties of matter. We experimented with different materials to make a hat that would absorb sweat, protect us from the sun and stay on our head.

Social Studies-We learned about citizenship and what that means. We also looked at our constitution and the history surrounding it. We will continue looking more closely at all of that this week.
