Garden is Moving Forward

Our schoolyard habitat garden is quickly moving forward and growing quickly in funds!

Through the efforts of Ms. Jennifer Carver, Elrod Elementary was awarded a $100 seed grant from Native American Seed company. This will allow us to purchase seeds for planting and have the garden activity of creating seed balls with the students.

Mrs. Teresa Keller was also awarded an Innovative Grant Award from Northside Education Foundation (NEF) for her Elrod Monarch Hero's Outdoor Classroom grant application. These much needed funds will go towards gardening tools, building supplies, plants, landscaping, maintenance, and so much more!

Please read the NEF Award notification letter below for additional information.

Thank You Parents

Every successful school garden needs a dedicated team of Parents willing to make a commitment to clearing, planting, maintaining it and more importantly supporting their students. Thank you to the parents, students, staff, and community members who came out this Fall to support our clean up and prep day as well as those that came out on STEM night and had their students paint rocks for our garden. Both days were hard work and messy! But, we couldn't have done it without you.

Love Our School Day - Saturday, February 22nd

Your next opportunity to help will be on Saturday, February 22nd from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. We will be building a shed, fencing, shade canopies, laying pathways, and creating planting beds.

We'll also have an area for the little ones to create seed balls for our garden as well!

So come get dirty and join us in the fun! Just be prepared with gloves, a hat, sunscreen, gardening tools and water to keep yourself hydrated.
