HAPPY Thursday! TEN days until our winter break! We also have some fun activities happening over the next few weeks! First off, check out our Spirit Week schedule of events linked below; that will be happening the week of December 18th! We also have our 2nd annual Gingerbread STEAM contest coming up! Looking forward to seeing some of the final projects! 🍪
Our KES News Crew has been working diligently on filming, scripting, editing and finalizing our weekly news. Check out Episode 1 & 2 below. We definitely have some future TV stars at KES!!! 🤩

Outstanding Employee of the Year Nomination 2024-2025
OUTSTANDING EMPLOYEES from QACPS are everywhere! 4th Grade Londontown trips!
Our 4th grade visited Londontown this week! They explored the history of the area and performed many fun experiments while there.

QACPS Snack guidelines for food items brought in for students
Per the counties Wellness Policy: Student or Family provided foods should meet the USDA Smart Snack Guidelines in Schools, be commercially packaged, and have nutrient standards listed; this includes nutrition facts labels.
●Snacks should meet the following criteria:
● ≤ 200 calories per item
● 230 mg sodium per item
● ≤ 35% of weight from total sugar
● Zero grams of trans fat
● < 10% calories from saturated fat
● ≤ 35% calories from total fat
● grain items must include 50% or more whole grains by weight, or have whole grains as the first ingredient
Some acceptable Snack Ideas:
- Scooby Doo Fruit Snacks, first ingredient fruit juice
- Pepperidge Farm Cheddar Goldfish Baked with Whole Grain
- Individually packaged Whole Grain Cheez Its
- Nutragrain Bars
- Nabisco Teddy Grahams with whole grain wheat flour
- Any of the Hershey Ice Cream items sold in the cafeteria
2024 Polar Bear Plunge
The Polar Bear Plunge is right around the corner. If you would like to attend the trip with our team, you must register online. You can search for 2024 Cool Schools Plunge and find it that way. Student Medication Permission Form
Attached are the links from the Board of Education regarding student Medications to be given during school hours. for obvious safety reasons, it is a QACBOE policy that students are NOT to bring in any types of medication themselves for self administration. The attached forms are for the purposes of the school nurse to be able to give your child tylenol or cough medicine or cough drops if necessary. School Based Health Centers Open!
If your child needs medical attention, Choptank Community Health is offering school based health centers for appointments. They are at Church Hill Elementary School on M-W-Fr from 12pm-3pm, Sudlersville Elementary School on M-W-Fr from 7:30am-11:30am and Sudlersville Middle School on Tu & Th from 7:30am-3:30pm. The enrollment forms are on the BOE website in English and Spanish. https://www.qacps.org/student-services/school-health/. This is the link to our site. Once enrolled they will not have to enroll again while their children are in school with us.
An adult who wishes to volunteer in our school or chaperone a field trips must:
(1) complete our online volunteer training (read attached PDF handbook and complete the Volunteer Application Google Form)
AND
(2) visit the office to have their driver's license scanned into our database. This must be done at least 24 hours before a trip or on the first day of volunteering in the building.
Training must be completed each school year.
School Meals Payments Options
The District will continue to use MySchoolBucks as our online payment system for school meals and will be available to take payments for the new school year starting August 1st. Parents/guardians can go to https://www.myschoolbucks.com or download the app to set up a student account if they do not already have one. If families prefer, money can also be put on a student meal account by sending cash or check and can be given to the cafeteria manager. Parents will be emailed or called daily to be notified of student charges for meals. Parents will be emailed daily if their child is in the negative on their account with reminders to send funds in.
School meal prices are:
Breakfast Elementary/Middle/High: $1.60
Reduced Breakfast: $0.00
Elementary Lunch: $2.60
Middle/High Lunch: $2.85
Reduced Lunch: $0.00
Milk: $0.50
