New Year, New Faces!
Jen Jones, Literacy Specialist
Welcome Back, Viator Families! If we haven’t met, I am Mrs. Jen Jones. I have been with the Viator Community for 18 years. It was great to see so many smiling faces last week. As some of you know, Mrs. Cirone and I were a Kindergarten team for five years, and I substituted on the primary campus for ten years before that, even spending one year in first grade as Mrs. Sligar's aide. In May, I left Kindergarten, but leaving Saint Viator? Not yet! I am happy to formally announce that I will be returning to St. Viator this year in a Literacy Specialist capacity. For the past year, I have attended Arizona State University's online program in Literacy Education and will complete the Master's program in the spring. This year at St. Viator, I will be focusing on reading and writing assistance for pre-K thru 4th.
I am looking forward to a great year and continuing to be a part of the best Catholic community, St. Viator! Please check out the padlet I created for parents to help encourage writing at home: (click title) Writer’s Launchpad! Let me know if you have any questions!
Deborah Hanna, Instructional Strategist
I’m Deborah Hanna and excited to have joined the St. Viator team as the Instructional Strategist. To share a bit of my background; I’ve been in the education field since the 1990s. I have held the National Board Teaching Certificate which has allowed me to have experience with most elementary and middle school curriculum, pedagogy, and classroom management. I am also an adjunct professor with National University Sanford School of Education where I teach education classes and work with new teachers and student teachers. My background also includes a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
You will see me around the campus working with teachers and students. It’s my goal to have our students experience a curriculum that is engaging and rigorous with purposeful objectives with standards that will prepare them for future learning.

Campus Procedures ~ Changes
Prekindergarten Dismissal at 2:25 pm
- The Prekindergarten students will be dismissed from the main gym doors (doors facing the "vineyard") at 2:25 pm. The doors will be open and the teacher will dismiss the student to their parent.
Students are dismissed from the classrooms at 2:35 pm. Kindergarten parents may go to the doors to Kindergarten in the loop and their child will be dismissed by the teacher to them. In order to implement the Gr. 4-8 smoothly, please be mindful:
- The West gate opens at 2:35 pm (gate by Eastern). Parents park in the church lot and walk through the West gate to pick up their child at their classroom. If they have a sibling in grade 1-3, they may proceed on campus to that classroom and wait for the 2:45 pm dismissal.
- Any student attending an after-school sport or club will meet their coach or moderator at their classroom, gym or designated spot.
Grade 1-3 Dismissal is at 2:45 PM
- The East gate opens at 2:45 pm (gate by walkway from church lot). Parents park in the church lot and walk through the East gate to pick up their child at their classroom.
The loop is only to be used for drop off in the mornings for Grades 2-8. Grades PK and 1st parents need to park in the church lot and walk their children to the gate. Kindergarten parents park in the church lot and walk their child to the doors facing the loop.
The loop lane closest to Eastern will be dedicated to Grades 4-8. The West gate will be open for students at 7:35 am. The loop lane closest to the church walkway will be dedicated to Grades PK and 1-3. The East gate will be open at 7:45 am.
Under NO circumstance should any car make a left onto Eastern from the school campus. There is a no left hand turn sign as this is dangerous when we do not have construction present in our area. It is very concerning right now. In addition, please do not make a right onto Eastern and then make a u-turn in the school zone. This is illegal while children are present and school zone sign is lit.
If in the loop, please pull up to the furthest available space and remain in your car. If your student is too little to get into the car by themselves, you should park in the church lot.
