THE PRINCIPAL 50

Critical Leadership Questions for Inspiring Schoolwide Excellence

Chapter 3: CLIMATE AND CULTURE

Question: Do I ensure that the school environment is conducive to learning?

SCHOOL CLIMATE = The Mood of the School

SCHOOL CULTURE = The Lifestyle of the School

The walls of your campus should INFORM, INSPIRE and EMPOWER. Paying close attention to the aesthetics of your building is an important element of campus culture. When you see something that needs repair or sprucing up, what actions do you take? Do your teachers do the same?

What do the floors and walls in your school communicate? Take a CULTURE WALK with your administrative team and take stock of what your environment is saying.

Here's to a great week of teaching and learning!

A Note From Your Executive Director...

    Team,

It's Parent Conference Week! Please use your parent conference time to obviously inform parents of student progress as well as give out important school information. All hands should be on deck to register parents for Parent Portal, inform families about health information, pass out information from the counseling department and to give STAAR testing materials to parents. Let's take advantage of being of service to our families this week!

As always, thank you for all of your dedication and commitment.

Here's to a great week of teaching and learning!
