Tuesday evenings offer beginner Spanish classes for English speakers. As we move optimisically on the future, we look forward to resuming these valuable courses.
Each year, these events inch us closer to our FAFSA completion goals. Our February event was particularly important as our advising team focused on the Governor Whitmer FAFSA Challenge.
Governor Whitmer's FAFSA Challenge
In December, Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued a challenge to every high school in the state of Michigan to increase FAFSA completion rates to 75% for the graduating class of 2020. The initiative, which gave quite a boost to the Michigan College Access Network's (MCAN) annual College Cash Campaign, offered incentives to schools in our state through tributes, social media recognition, and many awards.
The College & Career Access Center takes great pride in the achievements of our entire advising team, but gives special recognition to Sydney Brown and Travis Miller. Sydney and Concord High School recieved a Special Tribute Award from Governor Whitmer and the State of Michigan for their impressive achievement of reaching 65% FAFSA completion.
Travis exceeded the 75% completion challenge with his Seniors at Western High School as well as Grass Lake High School by March 1st. He has now achieved 82% completion at Grass Lake.
