BE FANTASTIC!
Throughout a busy second nine weeks filled with Thanksgiving and Christmas break, students continued to demonstrate our BE FANTASTIC essentials around the school. Classes caught with FANTASTIC behavior have earned tickets throughout each school day. Ten tickets are then exchanged for a cricket to be displayed in the hallway.
Each class that earned 10 crickets during the second nine weeks had the opportunity to bring a furry friend to school. The homeroom class with the most crickets for each grade level earned a special surprise.
The following classrooms earned the most crickets for the second nine weeks: Mrs. Brown’s K5 class, Mrs. Anderson’s first grade class, and Mrs. Dunn’s second grade class.
Congratulations to all classes that earned 10 shields and “furry friend day”. An extra congratulations goes to Mrs. Brown’s, Mrs. Anderson’s, and Mrs. Dunn’s classes for earning the most crickets for their grade level!
Good luck to all classes as they continue to earn tickets for the third nine weeks!
A NOTE FROM OUR READING COACH
THANK YOU to all of the families that came to Literacy Night! We had so much fun and such a great turnout! We can’t wait to do it again next year!
Reading Tip: To increase reading fluency, have your child read favorite books and poems over and over again. Each time, practice getting smoother and reading with more expression.
Book Store: The $1 Bookstore will be closed in February. Be sure to come out and support the Book Fair during the week of February 10-14. The next date for the $1 bookstore will be Friday, March 6th.
Happy Reading!

Follett Book Fair
We are excited to try the new Follett Book Fair that will be in the library media center February 10-14. Please note that the book fair will close Friday morning at 11:15. It will be open during both Clay Nights and Muffins for Mom. If your child plans to make purchases during the school day, he/she may do so when he/she visits the library on his/her usual library day. Look for a book fair flyer that will be sent home in students’ folders very soon.
You may also view the flyer here.
Weekly Book Check Out Reminder Emails
You may have noticed an automated email notifying you of the book(s) that your child has checked out. My hope is that the email will help you and your child prepare for the coming week. This email will automatically be sent out on Sunday evenings. Please understand that an email does not necessarily mean that your child’s library book is overdue; it is simply intended as a reminder of the book(s) that your child has checked out. Please refer to the due date that is included in the email to determine whether or not the book is actually considered late. If you have any questions about your child’s library book, at any point this year, please do not hesitate to contact me, Mrs. Payne.
