What We Are Learning....

Reading - This week we began our close reading unit. This is be a great informational unit based on bees. Close reading means to carefully and purposefully read a text or group of texts. This will mean that the students will read and reread the same text to gain a deep understanding of the text and the message the author is trying to communicate. Next week, we will begin to compare and contrast two texts looking at bees and wasps.

Writing - Some classes finished up their All About books this week and some classes moved on to our scientific writing unit. Next week, we will continue with our scientific writing.

Word Work/Spelling - The spelling words are: him, into, time, has, look, two, more, write, go, see. These words will be tested on December 11th.

Grammar- We will learn about possessive nouns.

Math - We will have a math test on Wednesday (12/9) over two digit addition and subtraction, along with one and two step word problems. We will finish out the week reviewing graphing.

Social Studies - We will be learning about James Oglethorpe, Tomochichi, Mary Musgrove, and Sequoyah. We will also be learning about the founding of Georgia and Savannah, Georgia's first city. This is a great year to take your child to visit Savannah. Their learning will come to life!!
